Introduction advice : resident mature cat & new kitten

most Vets around here also said to wait until 6 months, which is a bit odd, since I have read other threads on this Site, which mention earlier spaying.)

On age of spaying/neutering, where I am the shelters spay/neuter before a cat/kitten can go home. So with a kitten they are spayed/neutered at the shelter when they reach 2 pounds. Really early!! To keep populations of unwanted and disposed of/abandoned by owners, and so then feral cats from increasing.
