We found a stray cat and we have a cat of our own for about 4 years. we were wondering if there is a way of introducing them without a major fight. Our cat is female and the stry cat is male. we don't know if he has been neutered but our cat (the Female) has ben neutered. If anyone can helpus it would be greatly appreciated. Betty

I moved this message to the behavior forum for you. I would respond this morning but not enough time. There are lots of posts in this forum on just this subject. You may want to take the time to go read them. If you have any more questions then ask away!!

Hi Betty and welcome!

I understand that you want to adopt the new one. That's great news for him! Before you introduce them you need to take the new guy to the vet and have a check up. The vet should be able to tell you if he's neutered and have him fixed if he's not. He should also test for FIV and FeLV. Then you should keep the cat isolated for a few weeks until your vet can verify that he is healthy (it might take some more tests).

Then as Sandie said, you should introduce them gradually and you may want to read some of the threads about the issue:

If you still have any questions please ask! Let us know how's it going.

Best of luck!
