Got a text saying patient before Betty is more extensive than anticipated (12 extractions) and Betty is still waiting to get started. 😿

For better or worse, work is annoyingly busy with broken stuff. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Is distraction good, or no?
Hoping Ms. Betty's care team is still nice and fresh and precise and energized when she's up for her treatment.

Aaaaaagh, so long when you are waiting for news and she isn't even started yet......
Hopefully there will be no surprises hiding in there and she will be on her way to being more comfortable !:crossfingers:

I’m just hoping doc doesn’t run out of time and Betty gets bumped again. I might freakin’ LOSE IT on them if that happens.

It’s stupid broken stuff at work. And then I have everyone and the build system telling me it’s broken every two minutes. Can’t keep a thought in my head before I’m being virtually tapped on the shoulder once more. 🤦🏼‍♂️😾

I had visions of a lazy day where I could do some cat unfriendly cleaning like wet vac her meds area. I just hope this 💩 is fixed by the time I have to pick up Betty.

Sometimes I think my job is little more than a digital plumber. Better paid though. But c'mon people! Be mindful of what you flush down those pipes! 😹

I dated a plumber. Money was not a problem and we got into far more trouble than we should have as a result.
Every day, in every way, the internet and everything related to it is getting complicateder and complicateder (yup! Another original word, I think) to the point where it'll never all get solved or run smoothly. And there'll always be plenty of call for those who do what you do. *Betty can be very confident that she'll always have plenty of cat food money.*:clapcat:🤑🍗🍖

Finally an update. It looks like she had a tooth that's already resorbed and one that's well on its way. It sounds like there is perhaps an exposed nerve. But that there isn't enough tooth left to extract. So she's going to burr it down so that she can sew a gum flap over it and let the body continue the resorptive process below the gum line. I trust her when she says it's not worth the effort of trying to extract what's remaining. My hope is that just having it not exposed anymore might give her relief. But she may need to continue on gabapentin. Doc is writing a prescription for me so that I can take it to Wedgewood and have them create the 25 mg capsules. She's getting all kinds of X-rays--some at my request (hips/knees for arthritis) and some at the doc's suggestion (skull to get a bigger picture of her jaw and other structures.) This single visit is going to run me about what it cost to have Krista's remaining teeth removed. 🤔🤦‍♂️ It's a good thing I have a large emergency cash store. But it's tough watching it getting depleted. After this, I also have taxes. Every year since the Republican tax cuts, I've been owing money. 🤦‍♂️ If I'm lucky, my CA refund balances it out. If I'm not, I'm dipping into the emergency fund because its interest rate does not compete with my credit card's interest rate. Though a few more Fed rate hikes and maybe it will.

OMG. I sympathize. ((((Hugs)). Poor Betty. And poor you — bank account. It wil probably take a few days for her to get back to normal’.
So glad you pushed for the dental; and the additional x-rays.

Today's her Gotcha Day. What a gift! 🤦‍♂️ Well, if it gives her relief, then well worth the money spent. But I fear this might just start us down the road of a dentist consult. Still waiting on the pick her up call....

I empathize 100% about the tax "cuts" :fuming:*STOP me now before I rant*:soapbox:

But yes, may the flap-sewing mean relief for Betty and newfound good health, happiness, and comfort.

The doc is saying perhaps what we’ve thought was nausea and a weak appetite was actually dental pain. If this provides relief, we may go back to the specialist and talk about either eliminating ondansetron and/or reducing pred. 🤞

I created a CD Ladder, I guess five years ago now. Because the five year one comes due this year. It will almost put back what I have to take out for Betty’s bill. Hopefully I’ll get my bonus in April to put back what taxes are going to take out. That CD ladder was almost a good idea. Now the rates are higher. 🙀 But at least it kept some cash off the table and working harder than the base account. Bill came out slightly lower. Still waiting for Miss Groggy.

Ugh! They pumped her so full of fluids that she peed herself. I guess it was on the drive home. At least it was dilute. But yeah. She’s soaked. I gave her as much of a wipe over with pet wipes before she said enough!

She isn’t interested in her meds or her food just yet. 😿 It seems like she sort of is. But then she just doesn’t want to pick anything up with her mouth yet. I stuffed her capsules (pred and gabapentin) in some A/D and squished that into a half portion of her I/D. And I’m just giving her time in front of the heater to calm down and dry off. I kinda want to leave her and just go get a beer. But I kinda don’t want to leave her or go anywhere right now.

Her arms are also very bruised. 😿 I guess she wiggled on the right arm and so they went to the left. But they both look bruised. And very naked. Especially because she got some pee all the way up to her arms. 🤦🏼‍♂️😿

Such a sad ending to a very long day for her. I hope she perks up for food and meds later when she’s had more time to de-grog.

I was literally composing a new thread to ask how long after anesthesia before she would want to eat again. And she finally ate her two capsules for the night: her pred plus ondansetron (big yes!) and her gabapentin (also big yes!). Those are the two best meds for her right now. I told her how overjoyed and relieved I was that she took her pills and said she could do whatever she wants with the rest of her food tonight. I let her have the remainder of the A/D. It took some time. But she finally convinced herself to eat it. Then when she finished that, she went to her plate. I put out 20 grams of her normal I/D. And another 7 or 8 grams of the A/D. I figure like tonsils out protocol, she will probably appreciate a softer and more appealing food for a few days. She’ll let me know when she doesn’t need the A/D mixed in.

So relieved! I can finally relax today/tonight. Such an exhausting day! For the both of us.

She’s still VERY wobbly. She brushes and bumps me like she normally does. But she bounces off and needs a support hand to keep her from falling over completely. I didn’t notice until I got these pictures that she’s also holding her mouth slightly open. And she is licking her lips which at this point could be pain, nausea, sutures, hunger, thirst, or any combination of these.

Certajnly as long as she’s wobbly with these drugs still in her, I’m not going to worry too much.

I guess her meds kicked in just as I hoped they would. She has finished what was supposed to be her overnight portion. I hear teeth against the plate. She’s pushing the plate around like she got pushed around today. And she’s trying to make up for lost time. I’m wanting her to come to bed and she’s still trying to get something off the plate our out of the carpet. (Which i vacuumed earlier. 😎👍) Now I hear her flipping the plate. I really want to give in and give her more. But I also want to make sure this all stays down with all the anesthesia drugs she got earlier. I told her that if I wake in the middle of the night and she hasn’t had any incident, I’ll put out another plate for her.

I think she’s constipated from the anesthesia. She keeps going to the box. But not producing anything. The extra A/D I gave her as well as skipping tonight’s SB should help loosen things up.

I think everything will work out. I just wish she would come to bed now. Or go to one of her beds.

I gave in and gave her another half portion. And just like that she made that disappear too. I have another half portion “under glass” (under a plastic gelato container) waiting for a midnight serving. I don’t dare give her anymore food now no matter how much she tries to eat the plate or the dried crumbs off the textbook.

She looks good. Even though her iv sites look pretty angry. 😕 No 3rd eyelid up, pupils are still dilated. That could just the anesthetic or post op pain meds. The fact that she's eating with enthusiasm is great !

She's just wore out Dad ! She had a BIG, long day...

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY to Miss Betty White !!!

🥰🐾😍🐾😁🐾🥳🐾😍🐾🥰
