Betty! What are you doing?
Yeah, hot weather sux. There's nothing good about it IMHO. Hoping Betty feels better for this cooler interlude.
“I’ve watched you do this. How hard can it be? Oh yeah! Thumbs!” 🤦🏼‍♂️😾

She’s a touch restless this morning. I suspect she’s not running at capacity anymore and now expects me to correct that in one meal. We’re back to full portions and her regular mix (I shaved a few grams of A/D off last night.) When she came to the office for food or fuss (that choice used to be more obvious than it is now), I gave her a good Furmination and pulled off a good deal more with the Magic Glove. I gave her a wet wipe wipedown and got one small pass on the inside of an ear. I admit I have not been keeping up with cleaning off old mirtz doses. She puts up with the wet willies. But she HATES the cleanings. So after the indignity of a medicine-less wet willy, I gave her a hairball control treat. Not the new ones. Those won’t come for a few days. But I have another vendor’s brand that she will eat. I will start her on one of those daily until the Greenies come in. And she’s back in her poof. I hope I get another hour before she wakes again.

Yeah, they do need to keep us around for that reason. :agree:
Elvis loves having his ears tugged on. But IDK about cleaning the insides with anything wet. Baby Su gets Xymox when her right ear itchies kick up, which isn't often. She is mad at me for hours afterwards.
What other brand of treats is Betty eating, if I may ask?

Not trying to clean in her ears like you would for an infection. I'm just taking a folded corner of her wet wipes and trying to get a swipe or two on the pinnas inside. Usually with the first swipe, she walks out of the room like, "okay, we're done here." 😾

I thought I might have to risk another fuss session entering the kitchen to look at the package. But I was able to find them online.
PET NATURALS Hairball Cat Chews, 30 count - Chewy.com

I just fussed her with an epic brush and glove session. How is she not bald yet with the furballs I'm pulling off her? I am hoping to get a good hour of fuss-free time before I have to please the beast once more.

Lunch is done. Her lunch. First poop is also out of the way. I have to fix my lunch smoothie and then I can settle in for the afternoon grind ahead of the long weekend.

"Formulated for hair and skin health" certainly seems to be doing the job!
Cat fur is endless. Don't even try to figure it out. :insertevillaugh:

We just started these today. I tried one with her last weekend, I think, just to see if she would eat them. Then when I saw the package talking about four chews, twice daily, for hairball control, I decided that was a bit much. I didn't want to add another variable ahead of her specialist appointment. But hearing that Margot Lane Margot Lane gets results from just a single daily Greenies chew, I thought introducing a daily chew is certainly something we could try here. It can't be any worse than letting these hairballs happen.

To be fair, I did go back over Betty's food journal. Her last actual hairball was over a month ago. But that simply tells me that while I'm effectively diverting a lot of hair from her gut, clearly there's still enough that she's accumulating rather than passing. Since she likes the chews, we'll start at one a day, and see how that goes.

Well I’m humbled & honored to be helping The Great Betty White, if it helps! Yeah I think like w/ any of us, esp. as we get older, a little roughage can’t hurt. It IS just one, and so tiny that I doubt it could hurt things. …Good luck! If it keeps happening down the road, you might dare to experiment w/ adding 2 a day, but I’d stick w/ one for now.

Yeah. The fur is supposed to pass THROUGH the cat, not be returned! :sigh::sickcat:

Gave her a bumper portion because the Betty alarm went off 3 hours ahead of dinner with daytime portions long since cleaned. Even after her bumper portion, she's just sitting at my feet chirping and quacking away. Well, I can't play with her if I want that bumper portion to stay down. But I guess we could do our third or fourth brushing session of the day. 🤦‍♂️ 😽

Well 💩! 🤦🏼‍♂️😿

She bit open a poop pill and had the worst, “that tastes like 💩” face. 😿🤦🏼‍♂️

I tried to plate breakfast directly after that. Missed dose. We’re not trying another today. No interest in the plated food. I gave her a few kibbles to get the poop taste from her mouth.

Then I relocated the breakfast plate to another area that didn’t smell like poop. Still no interest. I got her to eat most of the portion placing morsels on the carpet for her. This is surprising because I didn’t think she would trust a carpet morsel after the poop pill disaster.

I didn’t weigh out how much dry I gave her and the carpet always drinks her share that Betty can’t lick up. But I imagine she’s only a few grams behind. She made that up already on yesterday’s bumper portion.

When she wakes again, I’ll give her a hairball treat.

Judging from the clean afternoon plate, I would say she’s holding no grudges or ill effects from the morning. She cleaned the plate and now I’m wondering, “bumper portion this afternoon or no?”

She also just 💩👍 so I don’t have to worry about one of those sitting in the box for hours while I’m out. 🤦🏼‍♂️🙊

I had a Betty siren wailing. I did not stoop to determine if our usual feeding spot was dry from an earlier cleaning and/or still smelling like poop. I chose a new location and despite a lick and flick, we did get her night meds in her. And the wet willy. She turned in another clean plate. This girl is adaptable. 😼👍

:whiskers:

Sometimes she just sits there with her hourglass spinning. 🤔 And to that I just have to say,

“Whatchya stinkin’, Miss Lincoln?” 😹

Best part about being a cat dad is the dad jokes always land! 😹😆
