I’ve also heard her make pigeon-like cooing noises as part a happy trilling.
I wish we could! Those are adorable. And yes, Feline is a very complex language. And for reference, the first one is definitely a chirp. The other two are not quite quacks but getting there. Betty has quite the vocabulary and I’ve put it upon myself to learn all her vocalizations and guess what they mean. And sometimes give them a name. You should hear her grumble squeak when she’s trying to nap in my lap and I have to shift.
I love aggressive bunters, don't you? Well, of course you do!In case anyone missed it from earlier, Betty is sniffing more here than usual. Often she goes right in for the bunt. When I get down to her level to brush her or put her food coated pills on the carpet, I brace for the bunt first. Then she comes back for brushes and cuddles.
Don't look for trouble. Hopefully they won't. You didn't know before.Well, I just got the preliminary biopsy results back... Geoffrey DOES have IBD.....
This is not the full report. The lab wants to do further testing on the sample. My IMVet could not reach me with the first phone call--I missed it, so he gave the go ahead for the further testing.
The additional testing should be able to distinguish it from: an allergic reaction, an inflammatory process, or cancer.
Of course I agreed to it....
Dam... Now I am 100% certain this is why Geoffrey was given up for adoption.....
Wow, do I pick them... 2 for 2.... 2 cats with IBD, back to back and also me! dam
Dr B also said that IBD is really strange.. It can show up as really bad on a visual scope, with not so bad biopsy results, or like Geoffrey's: mucosa looked really good, visually; yet the path report came out to IBD...
Same thing happened to me...
We are not changing his food, for now.. no medications, yet... just waiting further results--a week to 10 days.
He already eating rabbit food... It may be changed. I am thinking it is something added to the food...
Dr B is always: change ONE variable at a time.... and then decide.
I wonder if Geoffrey had an endoscopic biopsy before?? We will never know. The airway tubing seems to have caused him a bit of damage---his voice is not strong.. never was... so I am even more suspicious.
Now, I am wondering if the insurance plan will feel this is a 'pre-existing' condition..
That is what "T", insurance company did with Artie.. and then dropped all GI issues. damn...
Don't go putting the scale before the cat. Or something like that. So glad to hear she's doing SO well and that your well-researched therapy is beneficial!Such a pushover!
Betty finished her daytime portion and was zipping through her Speak n Spell of vocalizations she knows. I groomed her and fussed her and gave her a face to bunt and that seemed to have almost done the trick. Then only a short time later she came back in with a few more spins of her barnyard noises.
Dinner is still three hours off. If I give you a tiny tweener will you give me some peace?
I'm afraid I am teaching her all the wrong things about food.
And I'm kinda nervous about Sunday weigh-in in a different way now. If she's still gaining weight, how do I stop the porky train without having a hangry Betty?
I know what you’re saying. I was feeling awfully defeated for awhile there that my new cat after Krista would also be an IBD cat. It’s still a fear of mine. That after all the progress we’ve made here, how frustrating would that be to still see inflamed intestines? It’s not like she gives me negative feedback about the food out one end or the other for me to base a food change on. And she’s so picky. I may buy a second month of the poop pills. The study they quote that 83% of cats saw an improvement in symptoms was a double dose (2 capsules a day for 25 days.). I wish the turnaround on the test results wasn’t so long. We might finish up the course not even knowing how unbalanced her gut was and then would have to go a whole other month after for a follow up test. It didn’t take this long to get results with Krista. Everything got harder and slower since the pandemic. But at least Betty’s I/D case I ordered off VCA website arrived today. She can eat for another 12 days. I have three cases in reserve now so she’s good for a month.Well, I just got the preliminary biopsy results back... Geoffrey DOES have IBD.....

I know. It's diabolical what so many have to go through to obtain results, and care, for their beloved cats! At least you're financially able to roll with the punches, and your work schedule is more flexible than a lot of people's.I know what you’re saying. Sounds like a good strategy. Happy napping, Betty! and happy B&B to you!I haven’t decided yet on a second month of poop pills. I was really hoping I’d have her first report results back by now. The pills have a year expiration date and I get a discount on both if I buy them bundled with a test. I would like to do an after pills test anyway. Perhaps redo the poop test and the ultrasound (specialist appointment is day after she finishes her poop pills), and see where we are at. If U/S is clear, I’d like to work with vet or specialist on how to unwind her meds. As easy as she’s been with them, I’d rather not have to medicate her all the time.
Lunch was nearly all out away at 12:30. I better get out of here and let her sleep that off so she can finish the last bit with time to get hungry again for dinner. And she pooped right after lunch so I don’t have to worry about one of those sitting in the box while I’m out.

Her weight gain is accelerating even though her calories remained about the same: 183 vs 176
Now I need to figure out how to cut some calories without having a hangry Betty. And how to stop sneaking her tweeners when I feel sorry for her going too long between meals.
And just what is her ideal weight and ideal calories??
I don’t think it’s a problem yet. But I also don’t know if I would recognize it transitioning into problem area. I kinda prefer a chubby cat after feeling Krista waste away under my hands. Betty is starting to zoom again at night. Things can’t be all too uncomfortable for her yet. Despite those zoom yowls. And if I helicopter in , I get a “what’s the big fuss, Dad?” chirp. “I’m just playing.” I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to zoom yowls. Over a hundred vocalizations and I have to hear that one when she’s happy playing in the middle of the night. How Much Should My Cat Weigh? (With Chart & Pictures) - Excited Cats
Betty looks well within the "ideal weight" CATegory to me. How about you?
