I put out a half portion for lunch and half the usual amount of kibbles (3 instead of six.) I also put out a third of a portion of Rawz rabbit to cut through her post-hairball fussies. And it certainly did. That 1/3 portion is already in her belly. Good! If it stays down, we should be in the clear for the day. The chances for a clean plate go way up when a first pass is taken when it's plated.
Good on ya, Betty! Keep up the exemPURRY work!:hearthrob::cutecat::hearthrob::goldstar::clap:
Oh, it was a weird accident. I was carrying 2 heavy plastic supermarket bags of groceries on my verandah, when the handle on one of them broke and in trying to rescue the food, I slid on the concrete and fell half on it, half into the flower bed in front of it, hard. So I have quite a few really colorful bruises and my hand/wrist is excruciating. I don't believe in "healthcare insurance" or allopathic "medicine" so I determined it (probably) isn't broken and just tried to rest it for a couple of days, but as you know, when you're where the buck stops, you gotta do what you gotta do, so back into the fray I went. Doesn't help the healing process but there's no alternative. And since you know what I am, you know I power through pain. So working out has NOT been pleasant and I've had to pare it down some. But it's slowly getting (a little?) better.

Betty and I got our first night of Kwanzaakah presents early today. (With respect to both holidays, they fall on the same day this year.)

Betty got her Katris L piece back (if she can ever admit and accept that she could use the extra help now and again). I got a new end table to put my meal bowl and any other items I might need while Betty weights me down in the chair from floating away. And maybe, just maybe, Betty got a few scratching posts she might actually use.

All the end results photos here:

Did you at least wrap it for compression and support? I know I've taken a nasty spill or three and skipped the doctor. RICE is recommended: Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. I don't normally swear by, recommend, or even believe in homeopathy, but I have had good (possibly placebic) experiences with arnica.

Woke up at 4am to the miserable smoke detector chirping because it lost mains power. Christmas morning outage. If NextDoor is to be believed, it sounds like a Prius struck a transformer and knocked out power for 4000. Thankfully, I'm prepared for this outage. I popped the battery out of the detector to get some peace. Then got streaming back online with my laptop and mobile router. When Betty's 4:45 alarm went off for her breakfast, I got my Jettle and boiled some water. A freakin' miracle! Boiled water in a power outage. About an hour into third sleep the power is restored and the damn smoke detector started caroling! Merry elfin' Christmas! I went through the battery I popped out, the other battery in the open package, and finally a battery from a new package before I could get that thing to stop chirping. Such a terrible design! Power outages happen. That's why you have a battery. No need to be so dang dramatic about it!

I guess I didn't fix breakfast right (with my headlamp, two fresh cans, and some hot water to warm up the portion) because she only took a single bite after the third sleep rollover. When I woke for my breakfast, she jumped down and gave me a performative sniff and snub. Alright, Betty. I'll fix it right now that we have power again. I even warmed up a bit of the rabbit from yesterday just in case there was some fussies to cut through. Well, that did it. She finished breakfast and we're back on track.

Yeah, gotta watch out for those Priuses (Priii? What is more than one of these called, anyway? I guess I'd go with "Toyotas" or even "hybrids."😑)As to the annoying screaming plastic terrorists, I will only say I'm SO glad to have control of mine. The hardwired ones, especially, can rearrange one's molecules.
Great about the Jettle, though! So comforting to have access to a warm cuppa when needed.
Fluff is being a putz. He has his favorite BB Chicken & Trout left over from last night PLUS his favorite BB chicken & turkey brunch from this morning, and he's standing in the hallway imitating a smoke alarm. :rolleyes3::redheartpump::devilcat2::redheartpump: He got his groomies, which he loves. He's gotten several snorgle sessions, which he loves. He has 2 doors open from which he can survey his domain. He has a clean house, at some expense to my almost-useless left hand/wrist.
I give, Fluff. :sigh:

Being "Stubbs," are we, Ms. Betty? Looks like more food and treats are indicated here! Take your cue from Fluffy, who is snorking his Blue Buffalo Wilderness chicken & turkey today. He was being brushed during his entire Second Breakfast. He's a very social eater.

Wishing you and Ms. Betty the best PAWSible 2025. :hearthrob: :kneading::hearthrob:
Thanks and to you and Fluff as well. I watched the Nashville Big Bash and did not make it to midnight. Betty retired to the office even earlier than that.

We were snug and comfy; I was re-reading 1984 as it's so timely, and Fluff? Presumably not focusing on anything even remotely related to politics.😑

Betty had a New Year’s Day hairball. She also had a sour tummy spit the other night when she slept an hour past her usual dinner time. Yesterday she ate breakfast but then staged a hunger strike for second breakfast. I got her to eat a carpet morsel to stave off the sour tummy spit. Then I put a small bonus offering of Rawz turkey to cut through the fussies. It took her all afternoon. But about 10 to 20 minutes before 5, she cleared most of the plate including the turkey mound. Just as I’m getting ready to give her her evening meds, I recognize that lip licking. “Are you sure?” 😿 Yes. There it was again. Alright Betty. Let’s do this first before I give you meds. Where do you want to barf and I’ll steer you away from difficult to clean spots. She decided to put her three protein lunch (chicken, rabbit, and turkey) right next to the bed. 🤦🏼‍♂️ But it was an easier to Bissell spot than the under chair options she was entertaining. She seems to have rebounded. I don’t know what yesterday was about. But I think it would have played out just fine if I hadn’t given her the turkey. Well. She has only had the turkey once before and it was the same result. Once may have been a fluke. Twice is a confirmation. Turkey is a no go protein for her. 😔 Or maybe she just ate too much in general. We can try turkey one more time. But it would have to be a smaller total plate. But I have other foods I can try with her first. She seems to have rebounded. Second dinner and breakfast in the books.

Small improvement over the 8.7’s we were seeing the last few weeks. 8.82

*Heading for the red carpet*
*What is grump to you is sweet face to me*:hearthrob::kneading::hearthrob::loveeyes:
Yeah, turkey is pretty rich. And Fluff is sometimey about it. But then, Fluff is sometimey about everything. Yesterday and today, he's being finicky on beef. Okay, Fluff. I know you know where the beef is. :insertevillaugh:It's entirely up to you. I know the garbage disposal doesn't need another meal. And this is top quality food, not garbage. But whether it's a target for the Bissell or for Mr. Garbage Disposal, there's just one word to describe this.
Yup, you guessed it.

ROFMMTO! *One of these is definitely NOTHING like the other!!!*
I dunno. They both have the furrowed brow, squinty eyes, the wrinkled nose, and a touch of sneer. But yeah. I know that look means something different on a cat. 😽 But this is the image I get when Betty wears that face. 😹 Especially that cute little wrinkle in her nose! 😻

Having yet another crappy Fed-Ex experience. Apparently there is a level of service the shipper can select that does not allow the package to be redirected. What?! What kind of bull crap is that? Only DHL is worse than EffedUp. But not by much. The whole business model should be changed such that FedEx ONLY gets paid on delivery. Can't deliver it? You don't get paid. Because right now, they aren't motivated. They've already been paid by the shipper. The shipper isn't motivated because it's out of their hands. The driver isn't motivated because he's not getting paid enough to care. The "thank you very much, come again" rep on the customer support line isn't motivated either. He told me I had to call up the shipper and tell them to change the service level agreement on the shipment. You really think Allbirds is going to do that? They have already marked the order as Fulfillment Complete on their end. The end user is the one who gets screwed and no-one has any motivation to make it right because everyone has already been paid. The customer rarely ever gets a choice in the carrier anyway. No skin off their nose if I don't get my package because it's not like Allbirds will stop using FedEx over this. I wouldn't stop yelling at rep until I got the warehouse address from him. I get there and they told me the truck still has my package. I asked the live person right in front of me (MIRACLE!) if I could get the package redirected or otherwise held at the warehouse for pickup because I'm tired of seeing photos of my locked gate and not having any recourse except wait for the next one. She says she understood and took my info and hopefully I'll get a resolution on this tomorrow.

It's enough frustration to want to send FedEx one of those exploding Cyber Trucks! 😾

You know I agree 100% (except on the first para. Betty does not, I repeat NOT, resemble him in the slightest. But we'll agree to disagree, and I won't tell Betty you compared her.)
NO. It needs to be on the carrier. Not on the vendor. You order stuff, you give vendor your accurate address, they ship it out to your accurate address. If the carrier %^&*s up, it should be 100% on THEM to correct the problem. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
And yeah, I wouldn't ever buy anything from Oolong Mudflap, except for the time I spend on his miserable platform because I have to, but yeah. I hope you get your shoes tomorrow and enjoy them.

I just spent a few minutes looking for how to order them and came up empty. I guess I have to wait until March when they come out.

You could write your Betty a postcard! It’s pretty sweet, she even has a pawprint earring. 🐾

My gray Garfield is burrowed in there somewhere. I I know where because I played squish that mound when I came home. 😹
