Shoot! I thought I was doing her favor by pulling the covers back on her after my came back from my lunch run and asking her to eat half her lunch as carpet morsels. I thought she did a good job of that. I was feeling pretty good and was going to let her decide if and when she would finish the second half. Then I heard it. It sounded like a HORK! And sure enough, she gave back her lunch. 🤦‍♂️ No idea what that was. Maybe she wasn't ready for lunch yet. Maybe that single kibble already soured her tummy. She doesn't do well with dry before wet. Or maybe having to eat from the carpet instead of elevated off the book had acid coming back down her throat. Who knows! Cats, right? This one's on me. I put it at about 40% that she'll return to the plate before dinner. I wouldn't worry if she wasn't also starting to feel skinny again. Spine feels alright. But ribs and shoulders are starting to feel a bit more pronounced. She still looks alright, though. If I knew her age I might feel better about these ebbs and flows... I don't know if this seasonal or age-related or.... ?
Just my intuition that Betty is not old enough for loss of muscle mass weight loss. She is picky. But then, as you say, *cats.* Could be just about anything or nothing in particular. We all have our days, right? but I hope her appetite picks up. As well as Fluff did yesterday, today he's food-striking on his chicken. Why? He's loved it in the past. But the, he's also snubbed it in the past. He's spent some time in front of the screen door this morning. I had the door open even though it was in the 50sF because yeah, he deserves a little fresh air and surveillance time. But I had to close it later. He's also spent some time in the dining room, after sailing onto the table several times, on the comfy chair in there. I liked that! Everyone who loves cats knows they love pattern and routine. Right? 😑

My gray Garfield and how she started her Monday. 🤦🏼‍♂️😹

I did my best correcting the green tint of my morning lighting.

Despite the pose, she’s doing pretty well today. She cleared all her plates yesterday and she already made a healthy first pass on lunch today. Early lunch seems to work well for the both of us.

We're getting more reliable first passes out of early lunch. But she's still often eating only half. Not having any issues with the other meals.

My pickle toothpaste came in. It's not bad. It's a cucumber dill flavor without the garlic of real pickles. I just did a finger swish and spit. I don't know what it's going to be like going around with cucumber dill breath after I've brushed the full two minutes. I also got another tube of the chocolate peppermint. I may pick up a few more. I am going to miss this seasonal flavor when it's gone. It satisfies my dessert sweet tooth without actually subjecting my teeth (or belly) to sweets.

Every day this week and likely next week too I've been ridiculously giddy about not having to travel for Thanksgiving. Next week, Betty will get a small serving of Rawz turkey and hopefully she won't toss it like last year. And then we'll curl up and watch football and run the heaters, electric bill be damned! I don't like being cold. But few things feel as good as sitting in front of a heater or radiator and feeling that warmth get into the bones. Most mornings I'll find Betty curled next to the office radiator. I will scoot in next to her for a little bit of that too. Then I remember she's a (s)hedonist, and I try not to pet her because I don't want her rubbing her face against the radiator. 😽 🔥

Yeah, well, ALL cats are hedonists. They're apex hedonists. They know how to get the most pleasure from life, in ever possible way. Sometimes I think we should all be more cat. ;)
Fluff is having turkey today. Breakfast wasn't a bad effort, but brunch is pretty much a no-go so far. I have a sad feeling that Mr. Garbage Disposal is going to get a turkey feast.
Yeah, I wondered about that pickle toothpaste. What if it did taste like a real deli pickle? Hmmm. Not necessarily socially popular. I'd go with the chocolate mint for that. But when you're WFH and Betty loves you no matter what, I wouldn't worry about any kind of pickle toothpaste. Just enjoy.
Turkey and curling up in the warmz sounds great. I'd like it even more with a cat in the mix. Maybe Betty will join you. It's blissful having Fluff curled up with me all night long and waking up to his magnificence.

Another TILT weight. At least she’s stable. I had some difficulty getting her to come over. When she finally got on the scale, I guess I had nicked the HOLD button because it read an impossible 0.040. I managed to get the HOLD off and the TARE on before she left the basket. Hence the negative tilt weight.

Here’s another couple shots from earlier this week since I missed getting the scale shots. 😽📸

I took a turn into the gas station wrong. The front passenger tire hit the curb hard and popped. I was about a mile away from the taproom when it happened. Managed to drive on it just long enough to get it to the shopping center parking lot that the taproom was in. I went in and grabbed a five ounce pour before I called AAA. Apparently if you call on a mobile phone, they are going to direct you to their app or web app. From there, the tow options were only to authorized facilities. I was watching a meltdown about to happen. So my next thought was that I could find a friend in the taproom to give me a ride to the AutoZone or O'Reilly a mile away to pick up a jack and a donut spare tire. Apparently they don't sell donut spare tires anywhere. All the tire stores were closed because it was Sunday. Also, all my taproom regulars live within stumbling distance. They walk there. Or take an Uber. Smart! Well, I ran out of options and decided to fall back on AAA to an authorized facility even though there is a tire store a five minute walk from my place. Same place where I got the tires recently replaced earlier this year. Same place where apparently I skipped the tire protection that would have covered this incident. Anyway, short story much longer (because neuro-spicy!), the tow truck didn't care where he was taking it and dropped it off at the tire store next to my apartment after all. I walked back this morning to drop off the keys (and posthumously by the tire protection so the remaining tires will be protected next time.)

Of course, all my morning activity to get out the door put Betty into "we're going to the vet" mode. She skipped breakfast and of course she was off because of it. When I got back, I convinced her to take up one carpet morsel to prime her tummy. After her dental treat, I asked of her another carpet morsel and she obliged. And finally after my workday started, she went to the breakfast plate and ate about 2/3 of it. Crisis averted! We'll see how she does on lunch....

Just checked. There is a spare tire kit for my car. GM in their infinite wisdom decided a pump and sealant (sealant that ruins your tire pressure sensor so that's an extra expense if you use it) was a suitable replacement for the spare tire kit they used to have. Same space in the trunk. It's just being used by something far less useful. I will see how all the expenses shake out this time. But that spare tire kit is going on my holiday wish list. (Spoiler: I'm always my own secret Santa. 🤦‍♂️ )

Yup, modern life, modern problemz:disturbed::argh:I guess, even though it means a lot of not-so-wonderful things, I'm sometimes glad I don't have a car. Like everything else, the fixes are now often just the runup to more problems *translation: more $$$*:fuming:
Just FYI, I did that when I was taking driver training. With a brand new tire. The instructor asked me if I really wanted to learn to drive. I said "NO." (I have depth perception problems, which means I should NOT drive.)
These days, it's one thing after another, right? with no letup. :sigh: *woe is moe!*:sniffle:
Glad that Ms. Betty is eating pretty well, and hoping she enjoys her lunch to the fullest.

Betty woke from her nap. Wandered into the office and :barf:

No wailing. No second spit. It might have been a hairy regurgitation? There was hair in it. But not really a hairball. And I didn't think she ate that much on second pass. So... 🤷‍♂️ She doesn't seem any worse for the wear. We'll call this her November hairball and move on.

She's still leaving remainders on lunch. But all her other meals are getting finished.

Car is still not ready. 🤦‍♂️ Yeah. I hear you. I wish I could get away with not having a car. But the minute I get rid of mine, I'd probably lose my job or need to return to office or some other Murphy's Law crap. Not so bad having a car these days now that I don't have to commute. Working from home has probably added a few years to my car's life.

Oh, Betty! *Hoping it is her "November hairball" and that that's singular. If it's any consolation, Fluff, who usually does everything in one go, each day, has made returns on both today. Hmmmmmmmm. And where's the beef, you might ask? Well, partially, but not close to wholly, in the cat. :sigh:
Yeah, you need a car. Most people do. I actually do, but I just don't have one. And it works out. I mean, life is not a nonstop party for much of anyone these days, right? And being what I am, I plan really carefully on shopping and it works. Most things I buy, I buy online and they're shipped to my door. So yeah. Socializing? No one to socialize WITH any more, so that's not a problem, except emotionally, and who really deals with that these days? No company is still and always better than bad company. Public gatherings are still and will always be risky, healthwise and nut-wise. So yeah, it's doable. WFH has been my MO since a long time. And it works for you, too, so yeah. Just hope the bottom line is not a shock when your ride is ready.

Gah! I applied for an Amazon Prime Visa for the $200 sign up bonus to use against the Anker Solix C100 power station that's on sale this week. The application that was supposed to be instant approval is now going to further review. Maybe because I already have two Chase cards. In any case, the whole reason I applied for it no longer applies. I suppose I can use it as my default Amazon purchases card like they want me to. But I didn't really need another card. I just wanted another $200 off the power station. Foo!

Finally got the car back last night. It was ready earlier in the day and no-one called me. At 5pm, they call me and ask, "are you picking up your car today?" "I don't know. Am I? Is it ready?" "Yeah. It's been ready. Someone didn't call you?" Foo!

I missed Betty's waking hours this morning and her lunch went down after she was already burrowed in for the afternoon naps. I dug her out once or twice before leaving for the taproom this afternoon. Didn't help. She skipped lunch completely today. Triple foo!

Skipping the taproom tomorrow and staying home with chips and salsa, vegan taquitos, and three football games. I miss Rubio's. This would be a perfect occasion for one of their family platters that provided me tacos for days. It was a pandemic and Super Bowl staple.

Another TILT weight. I think the scale is attached to this number. She finished more lunches than she left behind this week. We should have seen some gain. 🤷‍♂️

Is that scale operational? Looks like something's fishy here and it ain't Betty's lunch :sigh: She looks great, though...SNORGLES on her!:hearthrob::kneading::hearthrob::agree:
You really thought someone would call you to tell you your car was ready? *heavy sarcasm intended* HAH! Count yourself extremely fortunate that you got your car back and that (hopefully!) it is fixed. Hope the bottom line wasn't too bad.
And another card? Well of course! MORE opportunities for data mining and sharing! I used my amazon card maybe less than 5 times. And I can't recall the last time I bought anything from there, as I avoid it like the plague it is.

I've verified the scale before. It seems to be working properly. Betty seems to be tiring of the weigh-in routine even though it doesn't seem to cost her anything. All she has to do is step in the basket and eat her treat. But Sunday she came to the kitchen but just sat there chirping at me. She tried to eat the treat without getting into the basket and I plopped her butt in. Maybe that messed up the reading? I don't know. She seems to be doing alright just the same. Getting her lunch plated before she burrows in for afternoon nap seems to be a winning strategy. So far. It's been colder in the mornings lately and when I roll her off of me to get to my third sleep, she's cuddling and snuggling in right next to me. The last few mornings I have had to physically move her towards the end of the bed to drop the hint that she should eat some breakfast first and then come back to bed. Thankfully she takes that hint. Possibly as revenge she's been trying to sleep on my head or if I move her away from the side I've rolled onto, she'll climb over me and reverse spoon (butt to butt) to still get warmth.

I do use Amazon a lot. Assuming I don't get trapped into unscrupulous interest rate practices (I read on Reddit that the interest gets calculated in a non-standard, predatory fashion but I don't plan to carry a balance), I would not mind getting some cash back at the end of the year for it. I ended up using at least part of the sign-up bonus on new patio furniture that looks a whole lot more waterproof than the stuff that I have that's been falling apart in the weather.

Car wasn't too bad. It was about what I was expecting. Plus I got the protection I should have had already added to the new tire and the prior three. That was about a third of the bill. I have already found a spare tire kit for my car to replace that stupid pump the car came with. I can get a better pump than that that could fit in the glove box rather than taking a spare away from me. Onto my wishlist that spare tire kit went and my Secret Santa will pick it up with next paycheck. Spoiler: I am my own Secret Santa. I always get myself exactly what I wanted! 😹

Even though it wouldn't be as precise as your scale, if you have a standard human-weighing-type scale you can stand on without Betty and then with Betty, you might be able to get some ballpark idea of her true weight until your fancy scale decides to straighten up and weigh right ;):insertevillaugh: *I always go on the premise that if "smart" and high tech don't work, fall back on simple and tried-and-true.*
I got hacked on amazon years ago and I am not a fan of Mr. Bozo.
Your secret Santa is like my Secret Santa and since neither of us is of that particular faith, it stands to reason, right?:insertevillaugh:
I saw this tire (and ball, and ???) inflator thing on a TV ad. Have you looked into that kind of thing or isn't it of interest? That's probably what you're referring to as fitting into the glove box, right? But yeah, a lot of these cheap easy fixes really arent. I bought one of those expandable hoses. It lasted a few months. Checked the stats. It's guaranteed for a big six months. It may have lasted that long. 😑

Speaking of shopping and Secret Santas, do you know anything about “Google Shop?’ Is that an Amazon Alternative? I hate shopping, but it is unavoidable at times.
