It's not even hot. She took a few nibbles. Then she was just sitting next to it like maybe I'd take a hint and bring her something else. I came down and took a couple of morsels off the plate onto the carpet. She ate those. I figured a little food in her is better than none at all. I'm not going to press the issue and let her tell me if she's going to finish lunch. If she's not going to finish it, we'll switch back to the other CBD and see if that's the issue. That salmon oil is pungent. Even two drops is enough for me to smell it. So if she's really not crazy about the stuff, that could certainly be putting her off.

Trace the ant path back to its source and create a moat of either cinnamon (never worked that well for me) or diatomaceous earth. Better if you can just pour the DE into the source if it's a hole or something. It's not very humane if you're an all creatures lover. Personally, I have a four limb limit in my home. Anything with more than four limbs is going to be shown the door if it's cooperative, or the shoe if it's not.
My olfactory sense is so acute that I can smell the ink from junk mail in my mailbox, which has a door into the house, across a room or further away still. I had all kinds of problems with roomie cooking smells, her choices of fragrances, etc. so I empathize.

Ants are great. OUTSIDE. They're here in huge numbers and I can't tell where they're coming from. Under the house, most likely. I keep mopping them up. I've gotten my Fool-A-Bug cat bowls out.

I watched her on the camera and caught this.

So I went out and scooped off the smelly salmon and gave her a different kibble layer with the other CBD oil (olive oil base.) I gave her a couple carpet morsels. Took the plate down to the carpet where she ate a little more. She’s had at least half now. I called it good enough. We’ll try overnight meal with the other (olive oil) CBD.

Hope that's successful.
How is your new vac working for you? and the light-blocking stuff on the windows?

I love the new vac. But I haven't been using it as much as I'd like. I wanted to have "Floors Fridays" where I vacuum all the floors on Friday. I am trying to conquer my ADHD "don't wannas" by enlisting my autism into routines.

In an ideal week, I would have:

Muscle-up Mondays (No excuses! Start the week with a workout.)
Trash Tuesdays (all the trash, recycling, and Litter Genie's if they need them)
Wipe-down Wednesdays (spray a paper towel or a rag and wipe down the surfaces and mirrors and maybe a little light dusting)
Thirsty Thursdays (wash both cat fountains)
Floors Friday
Nothing for the Sabbath (although I'm not religiously observant, it makes sense to take a day off.)
Sunday Run-day (Do my long run on Sundays.)

However, heat, Betty's off days, and still my don'wannas often wreck these plans. If I'm lucky I'll do a run on Sunday and maybe one other. Ideally, I would be stacking these habits. Muscle up Mondays would also include healthy meals. Wipe down Wednesdays may also include spot cleaning the toilet and bathtubs. Floors Friday would also include laundry and sweeping the deck. But just to be able to faithfully tackle a small task daily would be a huge accomplishment. It only took me 40+ years to develop a consistent teeth routine!

Yeah. I know there's still time to vacuum today. But I give Betty a wide berth after her dinner meds so that she will eventually visit the plate when she's ready. So the ideal time to do it would have been when I was worrying about her not eating lunch--usually after she's finished lunch there's still a couple of hours before her dinner.

The bubble wrap insulation does seem to be helping some. But we've also not had a return of triple digit heat (thankfully!) since I put those up. The adhesive on the magnet tape is not as good as I was hoping. I've already had to replace a couple of pieces. But otherwise, it works pretty well. One of the sliding doors is permanently in 3/4 covered position. The other door, the one that slides, it's 3/4 to 1/2 down depending on how hot it is expected to get. And in the evening, after I've put down Betty's dinner, I have to lower that door to fully down so that I can slide the door open without the insulation getting stuck or torn off. This part is tricky and could use more magnet tape to allow for a flatter fit when lowered. This is also supposed to help keep heat in during the winter. So we'll see how we navigate that too.

Well, it's good that you're getting SOME relief. And it'd be nice if the tape worked for longer, but...
Ah. pattern ("routine"). I've been through plenty of times when I have few if any. But these days, with everything falling on yours truly, yes, everything is a pattern. Monday is wash day and some watering. Tuesday is most watering. Wednesday is cleaning day -- vacuuming, sinks, tubs, toilets, etc. Thursday is "my day off," when I'm only working online (as I do 7 days a week, 365 days a year). Friday? Some watering. CATurday is 'nip-and-'vine distribution time, most watering and roomie meeting time if scheduled. Sunday is floor-cleaning day. Dusting is a job I loathe so it doesn't get done very often :nono: And workouts are M-F after logoff and before dinner. My internal aspy/OCD/drill sergeant minder will NOT let me not do these things. If anything doesn't get done, I stress (even more than usual). Even on the rare occasions when I'm sick, I MUST do these things.:bat:

Look at that. I guess it was the salmon oil after all because she dived right in shortly after I left the room. This lunch will not be skipped.
IMG_1221.jpeg
Also you can see how little light I leave for her. She’ll sleep most of the afternoon and spend some time looking out the window I left her. Sort of makes me want to put the bird feeder back out for her. But at squirrel height. 🐿 I want to re-do the patio furniture first and find a small free-standing log that I can attach the feeder too that won’t be “compromising the integrity of the deck wood.” 🤦🏼‍♂️😽🐿

Lunch was eaten. I’m relieved it seemed to be nothing more than her refusing the salmon oil.

I didn’t see the victim. But Betty supplemented her breakfast with a bug she hunted near her food.

9.68 (slowly climbing. I’ll shave a gram or two off her meals to see it she cant level off.

That's plenty of light for the crepuscularly-abled one. ;) Glad to hear it all went well!
Yeah, you don't want to compromise that :nono::sigh::rolleyes:
Betty: "Awwww, Dad, can't a girl add an ounce or two? It's just curves!" Hope no return on the bug.:barf:

She’s snubbing lunch again. To be fair, she’s also looking like she might bring up something. She hasn’t water-loaded yet. But she was chewing the fabric bag I leave out for her to chew. As near as I can tell, she is not tearing the bag or ingesting any of it. That’s a welcome improvement over seeking out frayed carpet to ingest like cat grass. I could not call her over to her food. But I brought the plate to her. Sniff sniff. No thanks. I got her to eat three carpet morsels (morsels of food served off the carpet, not morsels of carpet.) If she is going to bring something up, she is going to bring it up despite my best efforts. But in the meantime, I don’t want her tummy to go sour from not eating for too long.

So I guess I’ll see which way she breaks when I get home. 🤷‍♂️😳

A (feline) friend in Finland just posted that he puked and pooped on their way from one camper destination to another. So...maybe he did enough for everyone ;)🤞 Hoping Betty stays cool, calm, collected and serene in the digestive regions.
Holding here. Still mopping up ants and now, to add to the weekend fun, the master bathroom sink is backed up. I did the boiling water/baking soda/vinegar thing. Plus a lot of plunging. Now I've got a (twice bailed) sink that smells fragrantly of vinegar. 😬

I have a slow moving bathroom sink. I read that hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, let it sit overnight and follow with a hot water flush. Yeah. That’s not working too well for me either. It does eventually drain. I’m not too concerned yet. Not enough to call in maintenance. I’m stubborn about not wanting maintenance in my unit. Most of the time, they just take too long to show up. I’m on “I can’t poop in peace” watch until they’ve shown up and their done.

Alright. It’s about time to go home and face the mewsic. 🤞

Mine cleared. And I scoured it, rinsing the sponge in the kitchen sink. I'm thinking about taking the P-trap off to see if cleaning it will do the trick. It sometimes does. My roomie did this a couple of times while they were here. I could ask her to ask him if he'd be willing to do this again. But I'm undecided what the next step should be. I'm not afraid of learning and doing new things. But I have tiny twig wrists and not a lot of strength in them. So I'm weighing the different options. I don't like maintenance in my unit, either. Plumbers have not been too great and of course they're $$$. I could just use the other bathroom sink. IDK. :sigh::think:
Well, so you're all full and happy. Hope the homecoming is a joyous one. :hearthrob::cutecat::hearthrob:

Came home to an empty plate and a full litter box. She must have passed a hairball. It was quite stinky, multi-featured, and had the shape (and size!) of Italy 😲--if the boot stepped in Sicily and it didn't come loose. 👢💩

Even tiny hand towels work as Betty traps. 😹 While I was giving her after-meds brushies, I picked up a hand towel to wipe my forehead because it’s still quite warm in here. Well I set it down and she started to climb onto it. I folded the trap and it worked purrfectly. Until she saw her after-meds taproom treat. 😹

Of course! If you put a rectangle or a square (or probably even a circle, hexagon...) on the floor, they will come ⚾
Right on cue, Mr. Fluffy also let loose, this morning. Thankfully, though, it contained very little fur! so we do seem to be keeping that under better control.
I find a spray bottle filled with water to be helpful when it's REALLY hot. Just spray whatever affected parts you choose. It cools one down for awhile. Especially if you get the face and the pulse points. I keep this by the bed for when it's intolerable. With the ceiling fan blowing on the water spray, it does keep me cool for awhile.

I always have a number of baseball or vintage non-sports cards laying around. I don't think a mister would be a good idea here. But I do sometimes wet the hand towels. I have a lot of hand towels from when I used to have a CorePower Yoga membership. I built a number of grab and go yoga bags that had, among everything else, a hand towel and a bath towel.

I got caught in the kitty mosh pit once again this morning. She decided she was going to groom herself while also being glued to my face. So I got a bit of head banging and throwing paws from her. 🤘😽🤘

It's always something different each night. The other night she saw me come back from the bathroom and decided she was going to ride my shoulder and press my face for a bit. Well, she started across and decided, "you know what? I don't feel like crossing and turning around. I'm just going to deposit myself here on your chest." And Betty being Betty, she isn't shy about getting in my face. Literally. So here I am wearing the Betty bib and getting my face painted with her nose. "Not the eyes. No pink eye please." This morning after I rolled her off of me and she took her first pass on breakfast, she came back to bed. "You have a cat-sized space between you and the body pillow. I can fill that." If you ever wanted a cat who loves to spoon, get your own. This one's mine! 😽🥰

I just spray it on ME, not on the air. At close range. I don't think that would harm your cards. But yeah, wet towels works, too. My mom lived in a really hot humid climate and she told me they used to wet sheets and roll up in them and sleep in the yard. Not the safest these days, and not possible when there isn't a yard. But anyway.
I love spooning cats. My boyz do, from time to time. I look forward to the possibility of increased spooning when it gets cooler.
It WILL get cooler, right? :sigh:

Betty might be en route to a hairball today.

She hasn't gone fully overboard with the water logging yet. But she has visited each fountain at least once. But she's also finished breakfast. So if something is going to come up later, it's going to be messy.

Speaking of messy, I had to Google it (while Google is still allowed to Google) and discovered that instead of having the turn and yank sink stopper, I have some newfangled convoluted number that's going to require a bucket and some tools just to remove the stopper. 😲 Whose bright idea was this? 🤦‍♂️

In other news, our new VP candidate is both a cat lover and a Swiftie.

I think mine is one of those, too, because turning and trying to yank isn't cutting it. So I'm using the kitchen sink for toothbrushing. That works just fine until I decide what to do. And since I have a disposal in there, it's a better choice, actually. *The "bright idea" was obvy someone's who works for the mfr or a plumbing empire. Or maybe both?:cloudy:*
Mr. Fluffy's tiny furball yesterday morning was accompanied by a lot of "wet" but fortunately he spewed on the breakfast room laminate.
Walz is also a hunter and a gun owner. Which does not at all endear him to me. He's also reportedly in favor of universal school lunches. Guess who pays for THOSE. *Yeah, sure, kids should eat. I did. Every day. Via a brown bag.*
