Oh, I'm not even going to think about that email. NO, no, no. :disturbed:
Yeah, 9 lbs. is a good respectable weight for a lady cat of Betty's conformations. A little wiggle room in summer is maybe to be expected, but 9 pounds is the line, I agree.
That's genius! about the bubble wrap and velcro. The fan scheme sounds good, too.
New lights shining into the bedroom? :angryfire: I had that in one apartment that I really loved. It backed onto a school bus parking facility, and on the side facing my other bedroom window was another nice building, with mounted floodlights. :argh: I didn't know about foil then, or about bubble wrap, so my solution at the time was putting a really thick fleece throw up there. It worked.

The thing with the lights is the ones they replaced? Nothing wrong with them. These new ones? Nothing but trouble. Half of them are knocked over and the other half are being held back up with ugly supports like top heavy tomato plants. I suppose some of those tomato cages can be attractive. But not these crutched-up lights. Rent went up 5% this year. Same as last year. Same as next year. Rent control cuts both ways. It’s baked-in inflation. And that’s what I think about when I see my rent revenues being thrown away on 💩 lights that weren't necessary.

The foil bubble wrap came today. That’s what I ordered. There were other options. But this one had a one day delivery and had enough for both sliding doors and most of an office window. I didn’t get the right Velcro dots. But fortunately the stickers the foil bubble wrap came work just fine. For now. I’ll get better Velcro strips because I want to be able to put it up and pull it down as needed. Or as here, I have one side only half covered so Betty can still see out and so that we can still get some natural light in.

Now if or when we get back up to the 100’s, I can just seal it all up. Betty can come into the office for the half window not covered.

Betty’s looking and feeling better today now that the weather and the apartment shed ten from this weekend.

(Now if only I can shed ten. It's been too hot to workout or run. 🥵)

I actually like the look of the wrap. Do you? Great that it came with sticker stuff. IDK if those Command things would work or not? If you put some on the inside of the wrap, and some on the bottom of the strip facing them, you could tack them up during the time you want and then let them down again during the greatest heat of the day...would that work?
Betty looks so lovely and leggy! enjoying her Yeoww! banana. 🍌
Oh, yeah, it's absolutely too hot to run! I have to really push myself to work out, but it's something I've done most of my life and if I skip a day, I definitely feel the lack. 🙁

When I saw the upcoming weather last week, I decided, "heat be damned, I need to go running on Wednesday and again over the weekend." I only made it two of the three miles on my Wednesday run and tweaked an ankle that put me off my Sunday run. I'm thinking about going for a run today.

The foil came with 3M adhesive squares. They work really well. But they are not ideal for sticking and unsticking, such as folding half up in the morning. I want to get those Command strips in velcro so that I can more easily put up and pull down. The front room is a cave right now with 3/4 of the glass doors covered. Betty doesn't seem to mind. She's probably happy that she'll be able to sleep in her caves again.

When Betty stretches out fully on her side or back, I call that her Betty Banana because she looks like a spotted banana. And when she does it on the yoga mat, that's her Betty Banana asana. 🍌🧘‍♀️

So your ankle is okay now? Hope so. I power through my workout when my rotator cuff acts out, but there are times when I won't push things too far because you know, it's all on me--feeding, cleaning, watering, etc. *Just sayin'*
Betty is an adorable banana!
Yeah, I don't like it being all gloomy in the house, but it's better than having it be nice and sunny--and HOT. Hope the Command strips will work better for you for repeated use. I'm thinking about the bubble wrap for the master bedroom where I have foil. Watched a video of a guy making DIY roller blinds with blackout material. I ordered blackout material thinking I could do this, but I lack some of the tools and materials necessary, so the material sits in the office closet.

Went for a run over lunch break. Today was twenty degrees cooler than last time I ran. Ankle felt fine until I stopped running. Apparently, I demand more of my ankles when I walk in running shoes than when I run in them. 🤷‍♂️ Although everyone says resistance training is better for losing weight, I find that running and especially on terrain (running on hills rather than simply flat) seems to do a better job. Though it does feel better all around to be able to throw some weight besides my own around. I'm going to have to get back on the weight bench tomorrow.

I got the velcro strips in various sizes. I'm thinking it would also be nice to have a strap at the top that I can fold these up without removing them altogether. Weekend project. I haven't put up the velcro yet so I can't speak if that's the solution.

Boka just came out with a new toothpaste flavor: strawberry mango. And despite having several other flavors from them, I'm all about new non-minty toothpaste flavors especially from them. I like that it's a non-fluoride toothpaste because I'm really not sure where I sit on the fluoride debate. The science doesn't seem to agree with health policy. Instead, Boka uses nano-hydroxyapetite. From their website:

Nano-hydroxyapatite (n-Ha) is the primary foundation of teeth and bones. Our n-Ha toothpaste helps remineralizes teeth, supports enamel health and is safe to swallow. Plus, there's a flavor for everyone!

Not sure why that would be (ankle) but maybe it's just that your ankle(s) is/are saying they've had enough for awhile? I have probably the worst feet on the planet so it's not something I can really speak to.

Yeah, a strap would be good.

I used to use Tom's toothpaste and they made a fruit variety. I prefer cinnamon, actually, with spearmint being second and "mint" being third. Fruit doesn't do it for me. And the additive sounds good though I'm not really bothered about fluoride. The price would definitely be a no-go for me, though!

The heat returned today. And so did a hairball. That seemed predictable. It was a gross bile-y one. A fair amount of residue. Put the second spit on the yoga mat. How does she choose this? Like the first spot is the entrance to the office. This is a frequent spot of hers. But then it’s anyone’s guess where she’s going to put the second one. You would think nearby. And you would be wrong. 🤦🏼‍♂️😹

Betty doesn’t seem any worse for the wear. I gave her a shot of water with a couple drops of her other CBD oil (neutral base.). I withheld some food off her lunch plate. She proceeded to finish lunch in one go. So if it all stays down, she can have a few more grams of the withheld portion in a couple hours.

Ordered magnet tape yesterday. I hope it works as I envision it because I have so many uses in mind. Including the bubble wrap insulation

Mr. Fluffy beat ya, Betty. He had yet another nice big one yesterday. How can he have so many? you might ask. *The Floof is not telling.* Hope your lunch pleases, and that you get more! soon.:hearthrob::cutecat::hearthrob::goodluck::cheerleader:
Yeah, looking forward to hearing how that works out for you! What other uses did you have in mind, she asked nosily?:rolleyes3:

iPad mini sticking to the mirror doors to be able to watch yoga videos and check out my alignment at the same time. I've been paying for this Gaia subscription because I like Ashleigh Sergeant's yoga videos and they are nowhere else. I could have bought them many times over with how much I've absentmindedly auto-deducted. Now that I'm finally building a space to do yoga, this is the last chance for that subscription. Either I figure out how to use it this year, or I finally cancel it before the new year. I'm not certain. But I may have already converted it to an annual subscription just to be one and done with that bill each year. If the magnet tape holds the iPad mini, then there will be other places for that to go too like above the kitchen sink. I'm sure I will think of more uses. I mean it's magnet tape. Throw some ideas against the wall and see which ones stick.

Kitchen sink? Hard surface? Potential water? iPad? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. IDK how strong it is, but that would be in the Circle of Nope for me, I'm afraid. The mirror door thing sounds potentially do-able, though. Especially if you hire a CATcher just in case :hearthrob: :lovecat4::hearthrob:

Magnet tape appears to be as effective as I hoped it would be. I just did my first yoga workout in my new yoga space. Betty did her meowyoga next to me (and under me and every other way she could get in the way. "And on your next inhale, gently move the cat out of the way.") I put the mirror mounts at two heights because the practice I did was largely on the floor with a little bit standing. Now I just have to remind myself that there is a ceiling fan above and perhaps not fully extend my arms above me while it's on. No dismemberment risk. Just annoying. "Thump, thump, thump!"

I also put magnet tape at a couple of heights on the door so I can adjust the fold and hence the height of the insulation. It does feel moderately cooler and perhaps I won't have to run every fan in the home today. But this is the height of the heat as the sun lowers right into my room. I may pull the shade all the way down for the rest of the afternoon. Betty can come into the office which has a bit more light if she wants some sunlight this afternoon.

Yeah, max heat here is from 2:30ish to just before dusk. Of course, by 2:30 I'm really tired of the gloom. But that doesn't matter. Hope that works out for you and Betty! *Fortunately, in the rooms where I have miniblinds, I always keep them hiked up enough for cat viewing, because if I didn't, I'd have destroyed miniblinds. I learned my lesson 2 locations ago!*
Good strategy. Because we don't want to read about you online. ;):insertevillaugh: and because you need those opposable thumbs to be workin,' no matter what.;)

Another use for the magnet tape. I don’t know how this screen was supposed to stay in the window. But it never has. Not completely. Not until I put some magnet tape on the bottom of the screen and another piece on the matching piece of window frame. Let’s see if this holds.

:fuming:Management needs to install some clamps. They're very cheap and available at any home supply/hardware store. :angryfire:
But yeah, I hope those DIYs hold, too!
Magnet tape did not hold. The adhesive on the back did not stick to the screen. I didn’t wash the screen surface first though. I can try one more piece this morning. If that doesn’t hold, I’ll buy the clamps myself.

It'd be a good investment. I asked my contractors to leave the extras when they did the last big job here. They did. They're universal and good to keep on hand.

Southern hairball! 💩👍

I scooped a poop in the morning before her breakfast. I scooped her pee before my breakfast. So imagine my surprise when she returned to the box during my 11am call. When I was done, I scooped an amorphous poop blob. "Alright, Professor Scoopie de Poopie needs to inspect this one." I tossed it in the toilet, put on the gloves, and picked it apart. For science! It was two or three regular poops and one greasy hairball keeping them all bound in an awkward smelly group hug. :grouphug:

One fewer hairball to pick up off the carpet. :yess:

It is a hot one. 🥵 We're both having issues with concentration. Betty's not sleeping purr usual because her caves are too warm. But I've got the lights off and the fan on high in the office and she's zonked on the daybed for who knows how long. And I'll eventually catch a hyper-focus sprint before dinner.

Well, better there, as you say, than on the carpet...especially in that form :agree:
Today started cloudy and hasn't changed much. It was 70F at 7 and it's now 82F at 3. Not bad. Elvis actually came in and did some laptopping! He hasn't done that for a long time. He stayed for about half an hour and just jumped down as he had some urgent cat business to deal with, I guess :running:The Kid has made the rounds of the dining room table, entry hall table and sofa back, where he presumably still is.
