Betty’s voice is coming back from the dental procedure she had earlier this week. I wish I had...

The bruises are from Vit k. You can ask probably the IM if she's open to some vitamins supplementation. It could help in the long run, for liver, etc etc. Thor's IM was 'nah' to everything. However, after taking w/some oncologist from mskcc ( yes, the human hospital and with some vet from overseas ) I supplemented w/anti oxidants vetri science cat ones ( and some cat vitamins from Europe ) - his quality of life improved dramatically. Not to mention his blood glucose and energy levels.
On a side note, checking 'gi fast balance paste' and other anti-diarrheic pet products, they do contain vit Bs, K etc etc etc. Ibs is chronic enteropathy, so diarrheas' or not imo this should not be overlooked. However, this is my experience - I would have NOT given Vit K without that vet encouragement - and it was complete pill ( like Pet Tabs I believe? I don't remember the name ).
Betty seems to have an amazing team, and you have way more experience and are more knowledgble in nutrition and cat life than our former vet. Betty was really smart to choose you!

I also have a favor to ask - I know Krista had problems w/fish. Would you mind sharing her animal biome report? I can post Miau's, but it's misleading: balanced, but doesn't look right to me, and he is miserable as ... well. Both Thor and Miau have problems with all thing fish, and it is not the protein. Fish oil, fish hydrosalate, fish hydrolyzed, gl mussels, algal oil ( and yeah, I can write everything ). oh, inulin too. Thank you so much.

It’s only by watching certain trends between them that I find these reports useful. But also you get a free consult with the tests. If you’re not certain what you’re looking at, drop them an email and schedule that consultation. One thing I do find helpful about those reports is the recommendations. Let them do the heavy lifting of interpreting the biome and just sum it up and what do I need to do?

In Betty’s case, even Vitamin K supplements would probably be forbidden under our "change nothing" doctor's orders until we’re to AND THROUGH her recent dental. I still expect dip days. But so far I’m not seeing them. She was even adorably talkative and demanding before dinner tonight.

Yeah, I actually did call them. They recommended psyllium - this show his gi transit for 3 days, and 2nd and 3rd day his urine ph went to 7.5 than 8 than he pooped and back to 6.5. They recommended inulin - it's known since 1895 that c perfringens ferments inulin. It's known that c perfringens can be found in the small intestine. Do I want to risk it, given that he / both had cp ( on tylan +b12 + sb -2000+ CPA, 2500CPX ), not responding to metronidazole nor amoxicillin clavulanate, and 3 months of Kitty Biome twice a day helped tremendously, but still, after eating fish i.e. first day he had small bowel d, than colitis. And his ileocecal valve became 'prominent' during this time.

FOS+SB for diarheea when I mentioned that he is constipated [hard lumpy poop] ?

A balanced microbiome doesn't mean it's not aberrant.

First week after I rescued Miau he wouldn't eat cat food, he broke into the garbage and eat trout leftovers, bones and head. And now I can't even use 1TD a drop on his gums.
When I had methane sibo - nobody gave me cerenia and mirtzazepam that forced me to drink mild, eat wheat, fish or ingest lactulose or 'live' probiotics. Yet my pet was forced to eat it, despite telling them so many times - and I can't just turn off that image in my head.

All I tried is to figure out was *** is with the fish. Because now I know why Miau can't eat gluten. The report said not gi is the problem w/halitosis, well, it's there: some strepto-thing, now yes, he still has halitosis but his gums are not inflamed, and teeth much better than using the cat-dental-antiseptic, so at least that it's not going to get worse until his dental.
There are other companies out there - pushing different ideas. petq purina something is one of them. I might try to see if they can figure out what's with the fishy oils. Or just ask regeneron.

*Jumping in unasked* Whatever you do, keep the FISHBONES away from cats. They can be lethal. I don't eat fish, but I ask my roomie to take any meat or fish leavings directly outside to the rubbish.

You're absolutely right. I picked him from the garbage basically, after having him vetted I 'fostered him'. He was not eating cat food, and he was just bones. First 2 weeks were a nightmare. He ripped a bag of Greenies - and seeing the other cats [ one diabetic ] eating, he decided to befriend the bunny: he deposited 4 greenies at the edge of her playpen. Thx God Mrs B got suspicious and started thumping and I manage to avoid a huge disaster. Now he became a house cat, doesn't even care for raw cat food. [ off topic ]

I finally got Betty's carrier into the washing machine. I did give it a good sink washing on Wednesday and sprayed it well with the pee remover. And it was good fortune that her pee was so dilute from the all day fluids anyway. I got it washed and dried, and put back in its place. The last couple of nights I have found her hanging out inside it. I guess I got the washing right. And it's encouraging that she doesn't blame her carrier for Wednesday's ordeal.

Supposedly the latest Bird Buddy update will finally cross the threshold where the feeder uses less battery than the solar roof can generate. Here's hoping.

Finally got last week's claim submitted. I am expecting nothing. But I'm hoping the body X-ray for possible arthritis and the extractions for dental disease will be significantly different from what they call wellness care which they don't cover.

Shoot! Just reviewed last year's claims. Because she got an exam that noted tartar accumulation last year, before her policy started, her dental work counts as pre-existing. Maybe they'll count the extra X-rays against my deductible for the year. But yeah, I don't expect a dime back for this visit.

Betty's off the bupe. Whiskers crossed that her eating this past week hasn't been simply bupe covering up lingering pain. If so, we can increase the gabapentin. But I doubt it was the bupe because she wore more doses than she absorbed. The liquid didn't taste bad. She just didn't find an upside to submitting to it. So she didn't. Many more mL's ended up on her chin than in her cheek.

Small wonder why she's gained a little weight. I've been taking some of the A/D after she's taken her pills and smearing it into a corner of her meds meals to give her a starting point. A few grams of A/D is usually good for a 10 gram first pass (plus the A/D.) I'm taking a couple grams from her med meals size to account for the A/D starting line.

Every weekday morning, we get a slow fade up of the lights from 7:30 to 7:45 marking the end of third sleep and the beginning of our day. While I’m cooking breakfast bagel, Betty knows I have two intervals of three minutes I could use to fuss her. She wants her treats and fuss in that first interval. Sometimes she’ll use that second interval to make her second pass on breakfast. When I’m done cooking breakfast, Betty wants her lap time while I eat it and enjoy a slow morning before I have to go to work. We get a fifteen minute warning with the lights changing to a green tint. And when it’s time to go to work, all the home automation is called to duty: TV playback is paused (whatever it was), TV turned off, lights go out. Cat rock on the Sonos. Office lights come up and office Sonos starts playing my daytime music. The only part not automated? Extracting myself from under this lovely floof.

For that, I allow her as much dignity and autonomy as I can as I carefully lift her front paws on to the pillow stack in front of us and provide support for her back paws if she needs it. As soon as she’s on the pillow stack and I’ve vacated the chair, she turns around and takes the chair for first nap of the morning.

The only thing that makes it bearable to leave this each morning is knowing that she’ll come see me in about 30 minutes. Usually licking her lips to signify the completion of her breakfast.

Betty found the office radiator after her new one came in, and I took the old one for me.

Yes that radiator is next to a nonfunctional radiator. Well, it works. But it’s on the same controls as the vent in the front room which is now covered by furniture. Krista peed in it once. If I turn it on, it’s going to smell like warmed cat pee. You know that probably should have been a between-cats task to get that vent and radiator working again.

I think we have the same POANG chair. Black leather aond Medium Brown frame? Yup. Two of those in the living room. SO comfortable.
Do you have/have you tried a cat blanket for Betty's laptime? My roomies gave me a bunch of fleece ones from airline travel. They're soft, warm, washable, VERY comfortable for cats, and I can lift the entire cat and blanket in one go, and place back on chair or beside chair on another sitting place when I need to get up.
Your environment sounds paradisacal for you both!

OMC. I just read Post #3,397 above. And ROFLd. So we aren't the only ones this has happened to. We had vertical built-in gas heaters 2 locations ago. SOMEONE got the bright idea that it would make a great place to "stand and deliver" and we finally had to decommission them. That's when we got the oil heater, which was all we had until we moved to the Mojave with its HVAC and blissfully wonderfully warm pellet stove. How I miss all that.

My POANG is made much more comfortable with an additional firm chair back and an extra head pillow. Otherwise, I feel like the chair, like my car seat was made for a humpback. Is that the average American shape now? And why do chairs want to push my head forward?

I thought I had a particularly challenging day today. Every few minutes that dang Teams chime interrupting my flow. Lots of breakage.

But clearly, Betty had the more exhausting day.

She didn’t even wake for me when I cooked dinner.

She did eventually wake up when I sat down to eat dinner. And then she was out like a light again.


Now my day doesn’t feel so rough.

Betty's definitely got the right idea. Elvis is doing the same. It's CATurday morning, after all.
