Lunch was served and Betty nearly demolished it in one go. Probably another 30+ grams first pass. This seems to confirm what I had suspected all along. That there may be some dental pain behind her nibbling. Her appetite isn’t this perky on Cerenia. So it must be the gabapentin taking away the nerve pain. Her IM doc sent us home with gabapentin once to test this. But it’s the liquid form and I remember how much Krista hated the liquid gabapentin. Instant foaming at the mouth. 😾 Never tried the liquid with Betty.

I can’t give gabapentin to Betty on a regular basis. She’s a loopy mess. But hopefully the dental will turn up the culprit and correct it (extract it.)

In the meantime, I don’t need to worry about her making calories today.
🐷👍

I only have to worry about whether she can get on or off the bed alright.

Rescheduling?
Maybe Wednesday or Friday. Those are his other days in the office. The other doc is likely still booked solid. It was because she was booked that we had to go onto his schedule.

On top of being sick, the post office misdelivered two pieces of my mail and those effers don’t answer their phones. The only way to resolve this is to go down in person and wait an infuriatingly long time while they search the place. Not something I’ve been looking forward to while sick. I can get refunds on those contents. But it’s just 🤬🤬🤬that it happened in the first place. Because there were envelopes and packages delivered on Friday. The envelopes were delivered but the packages? Where they heck did that carrier deliver them? 🤬 How hard is that job that half my mail goes missing that day? These are locked mailboxes so package theft is not a possibility.

I KNOW 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬
I've had highly personal and sensitive documents delivered, but not to me...and I have NO IDEA where they might have gone! I reported them, but I've never heard a word as to where they might have ended up. I keep getting mail addressed to some guy, at this address, when I happen to have the original architect's blueprints from the original owners, who sold the house to my parents, so I know 🤬well this guy has NEVER lived at this address. ??? Why do his magazine subscriptions say he does??? And I've received a lot of mail that belongs on other streets or to other people on this street. How hard is it to read the address???:gaah:
I really hope you get your mail. Don't hold your breath on personal customer service. These folks were behind the door -- WAY behind it -- when that was even a remote possibility.
Really hope Ms. Betty gets an appointment very soon and that all of the things I hoped and prayed for her apply!

…don’t get me started, I’ll go postal! PLUS I really do feel you are owed a huge discount for the reschedule. That’s a whole lot of stress, an extra drugged cat, and a replanning of your life, too. Hopefully this gives you more time to rest. Camomile tea with honey is good. All you can do is yoga, press the reset button, Be Here Now, and try again!

*YUP* on all of the above. *And to think that early in my working days, I actually wanted to work for the USPS!* *What was I thinking?*:disturbed:

Indeed! When I was a kid, this bird was called the Dusky Junco. For your sanity, don’t investigate the subspecies! Tho not particularly colorful, it is I think a charming bird.

Emergencies happen. Truthfully, if she’s rescheduled this week, that’s compensation enough for me. Because I have no idea what he’s going to need to do to make that happen. But I would greatly appreciate it sooner than waiting another month or two. Especially when it appears that she really might be eating through pain. She finished lunch by 2 pm today. She usually doesn’t finish lunch until 4 or even 5.

She’s starting to come around again. She’s no longer a sack of rice and is actually sitting in my lap with her head up while I finish a cup of coffee with my second bowl of soup for the day. I really wanted coffee more than tea while I was waiting for when I could take another shot of DayQuil. This stuff says no more than four doses in a day but also says take every four hours. This does not add up. 🤦🏼‍♂️ I think it’s the acetaminophen in the formula. Because I’ve seen no such warnings on phenylephrine. It’s not even the “good Sudafed” in here. That would have fixed me up. It also would have kept me up. Maybe if the sinus symptoms outlast the headache and mild fatigue, I’ll go get some of the good Sudafed to power through the rest of the week. I don’t honestly know how many PTO days I have left after two weeks of Covid earlier this year and a planned last week of the year vacation (staycation. I just don’t want to work the week from Christmas to New Years and have taken that week off nearly every year of my professional life.)

I can get my money back on the eBay purchases that were misdelivered. But that’s not the point. There were was one baseball card on my Saved Searches for at least six months for my brother. He has a much more extensive collection than mine. So it’s satisfying when I can find something on his lists for him. Well. This card came up on my search, not once but two copies. I bought both. And now both copies may be lost to incompetence. Who knows how long I have to wait to see that card come around again?! But also I have more consequential and even rarer cards currently in transit. And this incident further eroded my trust in the postal service. I have cards that have been on Saved Search for over a year now that just came up. I paid through the nose for a couple of them because of that. And yes. eBay will refund for crap like this. But that’s not the point. It may be another year or three before I can track down another copy of these cards. It’s super frustrating that there is no accountability on the post office.

Another clean plate.

I also noticed she hasn’t been shaking her head today. Though she’s been barely lifting her head. But usually when she comes up to the kitchen counter to supurrvise meal prep (something she hadn’t done in awhile so I was pleased to see a return tonight), usually we greet with a face rub and she shakes her head after. She loves me so much it hurts. 😽😿

Awwwwwwww, Betty! I love the supurrvision, too; Elvis comes out to the kitchen and stands on his hind legs, reaching a paw to the edge of the cupboard by where I'm dishing up his food. He doesn't do this anywhere near as often as he used to so I count it as really special when he does.
Good that she's not shaking her head. Wonder if that's related to the med? Must be. Looks like she really loves her carrier and feels very comfortable and secure in there.
I know what you're saying about eBay and USPS. I've ordered some things in the past that are rare (like 1 copy rare) and had the guy (seller) say he was going to use the CD I really wanted as a coaster 🤬 instead of sending it. Another time I ordered a personal care product and the guy didn't send, so again, refund. But yeah. I wanted my orders fulfilled!!! Even more so with something like the cards, and a card that was supposed to be a gift!!!:sigh:

I always thought there might be a dental pain dimension behind her head shaking. Often when she would head butt me it would be followed by a head shake even though there was no ear contact. Sometimes she’d also be eating eagerly and then stop short like she hit her pain limit. So it would seem that the gabapentin has helped with that pain. Her appetite seems perkier and I don’t see the head shaking in response to head butts. Or at all today come to think of it.

Makes sense too, since kitties try to stalwartly mask their pain so well. The only way I knew my cat needed a tooth pull was a tiny bit of lip licking.

Seems the gabapentin is wearing off. Her first pass on overnight portion is much more modest than her first passes all day. Thank goodness too. That needs to last her until at least midnight. I know she can sleep the rest of the night without bothering me about food. She was actually a really good sport this morning for a cat who was cut off at midnight and drugged at 5am.

I’m at the post office seeing if my packages will ever be found.

I would rather be anywhere else than here right now.

I would rather be at the dentist. Because I know they do good work. They stand behind their work. And if a mistake was ever made, they wouldn’t make excuses or play the blame game, they would accept responsibility and make it right.

I can't praise my dentist much these days, because I never see him. I see different hygienists, with varying degrees of positivity.
Hoping they FIND your packages and mail!!! Pandemic and supply chain problems are NOT valid excuses. *Neither is human error and plain human bloodymindedness*

Maybe my last hope. It seems my neighbor, the one who rescued OC and has since moved out, I believe that unit is still vacant. It’s possible that my packages got delivered one mailbox down in the stack. If that’s the case, it’s probably still waiting for me. I put a note in my box saying, “Two packages were misdelivered on Friday. Please check neighboring boxes.” 🤞

I also have a big ticket item coming this week via Signature Confirmation. Except they don’t do that. They just drop it in the box. So once it’s back from the authenticator and on the way to me and I have it’s last leg tracking number, I’ll leave a note in my box to get my signature or keep it at the post office.
