I think Betty and I are both sleeping better at night now that the apartment is getting cooler and the beds are getting warmer. Sadly, I think Betty would rather sleep and be cozy than wake for a second or third pass. She made a healthy first pass and did not return the rest of the night. 136 calories. 😿 Perhaps I retired the feeder too soon…

No Betty. That I’m showered and dressed does not mean we’re going to the vet this morning. I’m going to my vet to get my immunizations updated. Maybe flea treatment and deworming while I’m there. 😹

Betty is looking concerned under the bookcase because I changed my morning routine for one morning, for those that don’t know this POV.

So many of my Betty photos have a green tint to them because my home lighting is often set to a green shade I find soothing. Relaxing for before and after work. Awful for pictures. My go-to touch ups are crank up the exposure and the tint. An improvement but still 🤦🏼‍♂️😿.

Having an Xfinity outage once more. So I greeted Betty with hit and run snuzzles after my booster appointment and back out the door again. Sitting at Peets waiting for the flood of cameras back online notifications.

That's okay. Green is one of my favorite colors. Hoping Betty will emerge to greet you when you get back home. :hearthrob: :lovecat4: :hearthrob:

Oh she's fine. She gets her Greenies after third sleep while I'm preparing my breakfast. But since I had to skip out to get my booster, I put her Greenies down in front of her under the bookcase, gave her a couple reassuring scritches, and then on my way to Peets. When I got home, breakfast was finished and she was sleeping on the bed. I prepared her lunch and disappeared to the bathroom. She cleaned half of lunch right when I plated it. When I left back for the tap room because I still don't have home internet restored, she was napping on the bed again. She lifted her head for a kiss and some scritches before I left her again. I have no idea how she's doing because no home internet. No cameras. 🤷‍♂️

Xfinity has stopped quoting an estimated time to service restoration. 🤦‍♂️

I really dislike Xfinity. They are absolutely ridiculous.

I know how you feel about Betty and her actions when your routine is different. They always expect a Vet visit. Geoffrey does the same thing. If I rush, and not do my entire morning routine, Geoffrey will hide under bed, thinking it is Vet time.

Normally, he lies on the day clothes I put on my bed, to keep them warm, and also to keep me from leaving the apartment. He wants his mama home with him. We will see how he does on Friday--Vet appointment.

Betty has such a sweet face.. even when worrying. So kind and gentle.

I haven’t found a good alternative to Xfinity yet. Though a home 4G/LTE would be acceptable if I could get a comparable price. I just don’t want to mess up the AT&T unlimited data I’m grandfathered into or end up with a whole new phone contract of taxes and features I don’t need. I think the best of both worlds would be to figure out a prepaid mobile hotspot solution to cover those rare times (not so rare this year) that Comcast goes out. Service wasn’t restored until almost 8 pm last night. Over 12 hours of outage!

Last night was bitterly cold in the apartment. Betty managed to make a couple of passes on second dinner before it got too cold for either one of us to want to leave our respective beds. Not sure if I’m going to try to increase her day food to compensate or just let her be.

I do know I need to tune the heat/radiator automation better. The radiator is turning off at the end of the evening to make certain the room gets cool enough for sleeping. But I think it needs to turn back on earlier in the morning than it does to prevent overnight kitty popsicles.😿

After a day and night of clean plates, 1/4 remained on second dinner. Final score: 145 calories.

I started deploying the feeder again the other night. I noticed when I got up in the middle of the night that, although the food came from the same can, the feeder, keeps it fresher longer as it doesn't dry out as quickly. So I've reduced how much I offer between her plate and the feeder, but I've brought the feeder back. It seems to have worked. She ate nearly the whole plate and half the feeder. Final score: 156 calories. That's perfect!

Left her in the home office after a midnight fuss session. Didn’t realize even 74 on the Dyson Heat would keep that room warm enough to retain her the rest of the night. She made a first pass of about half of second dinner before that fuss session. It was her after litter box release party that woke me. But she did not come back for a second pass or the feeder. Final score: 132 calories. 😿🤷🏼‍♂️

Her latest AnimalBiome report came back. E. coli is gone. Clostridium still raging. Still missing large phyla of healthy bacteria. I’m forbidden from making changes before her dental. But after the dental, we’re going to have to look harder at adding fiber and/or inulin to her diet somehow. 🧐

IDK why but I'm once again not getting a lot of email updates from TCS. So checking in, reading from Wednesday onwards.
IT is becoming more problematical across the board these days, it seems. *I guess you're not on twitter. I am.* I have ATT for internet and T-Mobile for phone. Most of the time, these seem to work. Just sayin.'
Yeah, keeping the environment comfortable is a challenge. I just had a convo with my roomie yesterday about the heat and we got on the same page on that, as our 4th year together begins. 😮 Well, hey, these days, I guess that's pretty good progress?
"Litter box release party" 😁
Betty's basically doing well with her food, agreed? And yes, the feeder would keep her food fresher for longer. Too bad you can't do any radical changes yet, but of course that's logical.
Elvis snubbed his breakfast yesterday, and was lukewarm on a new-for-us Weruva variety. He usually leaves most of that variety of breakfast (BB indoor mature cat chicken formula) but this morning he got the second half and tucked right into it. *Cats. NEVER boring. NEVER predictable.*
artiemom artiemom Hoping Geoffrey's appointment went well?

Betty seems to be settling into 135 calories a day. Diet you say? Hold my beer! 😹

But she looks great, her coat and body feel sufficiently floofy, and she can still chase a laser for a few seconds. I don’t run her more than a minute because she really gets going. Then she stops and you can visibly see her breathing “athletically.”

As long as 135 doesn’t become 115 next week, I’ll continue to put the plates out and see where she comes in. Collect the data and see if we can slow down or level out the weight gain.

Last night she skipped second half of first dinner. But she finished second dinner and didn’t touch the feeder. Final score: 135 calories.

She is still a fairly lazy Garfield so maybe she doesn’t need that many calories to simply seek out fuss from me several times a day. 😽👍

She skipped half of second dinner and all of the feeder. Still finished at 141 calories. It’s weird how her overnight eating has just dropped off since the weather got colder. Maybe she needs an eating jacket? 😹

She walked away from her breakfast a little sooner than I would have liked. I grabbed one more morsel and put it on the carpet for her. “Finish that and we’ll call it good for now.” She happily obliged. Then instead of sticking around for after breakfast fuss, she got up and left. “I guess we’re done here.” Final answer. 😾😹

We’re catching up on after breakfast snuggles in bed for third sleep. 😽🥰👍

Sounds luxurious! With roommies, you don't ever get even second sleep. It's up and at'em! at 7 every morning. No matter what. And of course, there's the cat to be fed, watered, and cleaned for. "The cat"? Yes, "the cat." :crackup:He gets it, whether he wants it or not. Sometimes I have to do a little extra persuading. He's gotten into the habit of staying in loaf mode on this thick warm soft throw we have. And he doesn't want to move. So he gets breakfast in bed.
Yeah, an eating jacket sounds like something Ms. Betty would apPURRove. :hearthrob::lovecat4::hearthrob:

I am grateful and fortunate that even on sniff and snub mornings, Betty still shows up for her meds. And even on sniff and snub mornings, I can get some in her through carpet morsels.

Betty halved her remainder during third sleep and then snuggled in closer to help me sleep in. 😽😹

She was being a stubborn floof about her weigh-in. We may need to go back to kibble temptation because it was a tense stand-off trying to get her to show up to the scale for her Greenies and a bonus rabbit treat.

I didn’t get a picture this morning. But it seemed after fluctuating from 10.54 to 10.7, it settled on 10.6. Last week was 10.54. That’s with the margin of error or the size of a poop. I don’t really need her to lose weight. We can work on that later. But I would feel a lot better if she would stop gaining.

I think I spent too much time at home yesterday after I plated lunch and it threw her routine off. She didn’t start on lunch until late which means she probably didn’t finish lunch until maybe moments before I walked in the door home from the taproom. That would explain why she sniffed and snubbed dinner after taking her meds. She always takes her meds. I gave her a three carpet morsels. When I tried to give her a fourth, she walked away. Final answer. She ended up with a 9 gram remainder on first dinner by the time the shift was over. She barely touched second dinner. I think she’s just not fond of eating in a cold (for her) apartment. Or she just rather sleep at night. 🤷🏼‍♂️ In any case, if she hadn’t fallen behind on first dinner, her underwhelming second dinner would have been okay. Final score for the day: 125 calories. I take a little solace in knowing that she got a couple extra treats yesterday. One for the weigh in.

And one I hid in her new carrier. I had this same carrier with Krista and we both loved it. I tried to get another earlier this year and couldn’t find it. Chewy stopped carrying it. I got one that looked like it. But it was an unsturdy mess of too many zippers, unnecessary front and back expansions, and when it was all opened up, it wouldn’t hold its shape. No wonder why Betty never cared for it when I left it out. And I hated looking at that droopy bad buy. I found Krista’s carrier Amazon. It’s missing side compartment fur that was in Krista’s models (she pooped through a couple of them), but it looks sturdy and it stands up on its own. It was delivered on Saturday and I have been putting a rabbit treat into it when she isn’t looking. I think she’s finding them. 😸👍 Look what I woke up to this morning. “Sorry Betty. I’m going to blind you with this phone’s ridiculous strobe flash because this picture is too cute for a green tint.”

What I gained in more natural light, I lost in her unnatural flash eyes. 🤦🏼‍♂️😔

Here’s a green tint picture that’s been heavily corrected. The light is still off. But her face looks more natural. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Both are beautiful pix of beautiful Betty and wow! that's some deLuxe carrier -- looks like it might even be able to levitate! *catdrone*
So maybe it's time for a little heart-to-heart with her about her eating habits? Or ???
