Termite. And, agree w/ Casper’s Human: get a termite expert in. I’ve had good luck with Borite, I believe it was called. This disrupts the natural cycle of the termite and they didn’t come back. Also get rid of any damp loose wood under your house.
Borax or boric acid can kill termites but the problem is that they have to eat it in order to work. Borax disrupts their digestive systems. Termites primarily eat wood, unlike ants.

You can apply borax and it will work to kill the ones above ground but there will be many, many more, living below ground and inside your walls, that won't come into contact with borax and eat it.

Borax will kill off a few but there will be more that aren't killed.

BTW: Termites exist on all continents except Antarctica.

I wouldn’t try to treat yourself. Get a professional in that specializes in termites. Tell them about your cats and board your cats for a day or two when they actually spray.

These are def some form of termites, yeah. We get seasonal ones that come in when summer starts and then they just go away. The pics you posted look exactly like them. I would get it handled by professionals if this is new, because I think seasonal termites would be more common

Alya bruno Alya bruno They definitely look like termites; if you're seeing more than just one or two, and they don't have wings, you should absolutely call in someone who can deal with them. While I'm the last person to tell you to call in an exterminator - I have pet bugs and I'm an amateur entomologist - this is one of the cases where it's necessary. They can completely destroy the interior of your house, making it unsafe to live in. Please take it seriously! A good pest control specialist should be experienced with households with pets, and hopefully will know how to handle them in a pet-safe way.

The good news is, they shouldn't pose a threat to your cats (from ingestion, that is). Termites are edible! They don't produce any toxins that should be harmful to you or your cats if they were to eat any.
