What was the reason you took your cat to the vet? "Not absorbing food" is vague. What symptoms or behavior did you see in your cat that prompted the vet visit? Did the vet run any tests and diagnose your cat with a health condition, thus the need for a steroid? What is the dose of steroid? One 5mg pill once a day? Twice a day? Steroids can't be simply stopped once you're done with the bottle. There has to be a slow tapering down of the dose over a few days before you can stop. This is information the vet needs to tell you.
