If you decide to harness train him, you might want to attach an AirTag just in case.
When my cat escaped he was wearing a harness w/Airtag attached to it, so I could track him.
He wears a harness indoors? Or are you saying your cat got away from you outside wearing a harness?I'm just wondering what he escaped from - typically cats not ready for outdoor lead training escape from the harness and wiggle out of it- so I'm wondering what happened that he still had his harness on...

Our cats would freely go out during the day since they were kittens for 5 years but since we moved overseas last year they have been imprisoned... Sometimes I let them out in the yard with the harness and I'm always around to keep an eye on them. But two times he jumped over the fence to the neighbor's in front of my eyes. He was so quick! He did that twice and that was the end of his restricted outdoor time. As for his twin sister, she jumped off from the balcony to the neighbor's yard wearing a harness also. They can't wiggle out of Sleepypod Martingale harness which also makes them a little uncomfortable to walk, so they didn't go far and came back after about an hour each time.

Oh my- you must've had your heart in your mouth! Yes indeed they are lightening fast- I'm glad they came home safely and without incident... sheesh,,thsts a story!

A very dear friend of mine, like you never ever let her cat out unsupervised and she suddenly,,in less than a second leaped the 5ft fence and was gone..... my friend searched, called and had to go to work so had called lots of folks to search- when she vame home she found her beautiful sweet cat hanging from the fence,,caught by the harness trying to get back home..... struggling to get out of the harness it wound up around her neck and she had died.......such a nightmare
