I have a pottery studio in my basement and my dad recently installed a kiln in my garage. I ran my first bisque firing last weekend and yesterday I started my first glaze firing. I am so pleased with how they turned out considering I've never used a kiln before. I definitely need to put more layers of glaze on my pots, but I'm pretty happy with how these turned out for a newbie kiln user.

They are beautiful!!! How fun!

DD was interested in learning to make pottery but I think she has to be a couple years older before the art league near me starts lessons. How did you learn?
I took classes in high school during junior and senior years and I also did a semester of it in college. In February, I took another class to see if I wanted to get back into it and it pushed me into keeping an eye out for a wheel for sale on Facebook and Craigslist and I ended up finding one that included a kiln and about 600lbs of clay for only $750, which is honestly a steal. I kind of felt bad paying that little.

Oh my! I LOVE that third one, the green. Are you going into business? You SHOULD be pleased with yourself, beautiful!
I'm hoping to sell them on Etsy soon, but I need to work out some of the kiln issues before I can feel that what I've made is good enough to sell. I also want to start a YouTube channel where I throw pottery while telling a story, but that might not be for awhile yet.

You should be pleased. Goodness, they are simply gorgeous!

My aunt had her own pottery in her basement with three kilns. She had so much greenware on shelves and she had pieces in various stages. I used to love to visit with her. She wanted me to somehow take a kiln home, but I never did. Now I'm sorry I didn't.

:biggrin:nice work i see dog and cat dinner bowls in the future?
This is a great idea.
I have really nice looking cat food and water bowls. I figure they're on the floor and get seen a lot so why not! And you know what cats need (room for whiskers etc).

If I wasn't so far away I'd buy some of your pottery.. I love supporting craftspeople and you do a wonderful product.
