I think I'd ask Abby if she was being a good girl and how she was feeling. I'd let her know I loved her too.

I would tell Geoffrey to be a brave boy, that I love him and I would be back soon. And to Eat.

Umm, we call the cats when we're gone. On the phone. And leave a message. Usually it's to tell them that we'll be home soon. Since I do most of the driving, Rick will call:

"Hey, Boo! I know it's getting close to your dinner time and I know you're starving to death. We won't make it home in time for dinner, but you'll be fine. Honest. See you soon!" When Boo passed away, then it became, "Hey Molli!" But the rest of the message is the same.
