The test is only available through veterinarians and a pet must meet certain criteria in order to be tested. The test kit just launched today so it will be awhile before vets are made aware of the availability of the kits and are able to get kits ordered and ready to test with.
It is not yet clear if pets can get COVID 19 from people. IDEXX's press release states "Since mid-February, IDEXX Reference Laboratories has tested over 5,000 specimens for the COVID-19 virus, from cats, dogs, and horses with respiratory symptoms in 17 countries. To date, IDEXX has found no positive results. This suggests dogs and cats living with infected people generally remain uninfected, except in rare and isolated cases."
