Our newest neighbors seem to be nice people. I've only met the dad, but they have two teenage kids. They dress in all black and have hair dyed as dark and glossy as raven's wings. Goth, I guess. Anyway, the people who lived in the house before them were very fond of this stray cat who eventually became our cat. He would even sit on the woman's shoulder. (I have always wanted a shoulder cat but in reality, I am a small person. My shoulder may hold a kitten. He'd have to be a little one, though.) This is one huge solid black cat.

The other day, I heard them calling my cat's name. Over and over. He is mostly an outdoor cat. I'm sure they know his name, because they hear us calling him. I think they have taken a liking to him and he is cheating with them! They have a big dog, like a yellow lab, but he seems friendly. He doesn't bark or try to chase our outdoor cats. And our cat is quite docile. Everyone that comes over comments on how sweet he is and says he looks like a panther. A cheating panther, I say!

So, do you think I have a potential cheater in my hands? A serial cheater who might at this very moment be sitting on someone's shoulder that is more substantial than mine? I don't have a jealous bone in my body except in one area. I think we've hit a nerve!

Hmmm. Well, on the other paw, maybe he’s just welcoming the new neighbors! Share the love? This reminds me of a NY Times article called “The Cat-Mayor of Carroll Gardens.” Everybody on the block in Brooklyn got a piece of this cat— people left their windows slightly ajar just so he’d visit. They all shared. Could it be he’s just making the rounds?

Margot Lane Margot Lane . Hmm. On one paw, that could be true. But he has been to that house before, and spent enough time there that he became an enormous shoulder cat and was "loved" by the former homeowners' grandkids.

I think those new neighbors met him, liked him and learned his name so they could call him over. Our road is safe. It is gravel and there are only two houses after ours. Then it is a dead end. I guess I should just be glad that the new neighbors like animals. 👍

Great day in the morning, my cat is cheating on me! I have seen a cat like this on Dateline or one of those shows. They put a camera around its neck and it was up to all sorts of shenanigans, including walking right in and being greeted at another home. That sorta rang of a set up, though, because the other people made no mention of the camera. I would have been like, "OMG! Someone is spying on me! Why did they put a camera on MY cat." I assume that any cat I associate with is mine, which is why I think DH's family is leaving me out of the kitten rescue operation they've got going on.

We have a neighborhood cat that does this. I've been in touch with the owner who is perfectly content with his cat wandering our neighborhood getting feeding and love from all the neighbors. This is Mayor Orange Kitty (his 'official' name) making friends with my granddaughter.

I think your cat needs a good talking to, tell him he has to choose between you and the neighbour and you wont tolerate his behaviour. You need to know where his loyalty lies.
