Dushka is home from hospital, but it is not good news, She is better in herself, which is great, but the last blood test htis morning shows her numbers are still going up. Creatinine is now at 3.8. We have been referred to a kidney specialist in Caen as my own vet feels she has done all she can do but does not feel we should give up. She is thinking about a possible operation to remove the stones. Anyway, we have an appointment next Wednesday and meanwhile she has shown me how to do subQ at home and I have all the necessary equipment. Dushka is now on my bed and purring like crazy.

I just lost my kitty to CKD in January..it's a very devastating thing to go through. I hope your Dushka fights hard, and it seems like she is. We found it far too late in my cat...within one week we had to decide to let her go. Given your furrbaby is still purring and trying to eat, she's definitely fighting. Mine completely stopped eating, stopped wanting to be around us, and was looking for places to die. It was hard to see her so unlike herself. When we put her down, she was 5 pounds instead of her usual 12. Dushka could also not be pooping due to dehydration, and also as your vet said not eating. The way mine put it was, "Nothing is going in, so nothing is coming out". At the point we found it, he told us we were just buying her time for our sake. Hope the kidney specialist goes well..I'm glad you are trying to keep her at home with you as much as possible, rather than in a hospital.

Hi jennyr jennyr , wondering how your little Dushka is doing?
Was the kidney specialist able to offer any possible treatments?
Sending you continued vibes. :vibes::vibes::vibes::bicolorcat: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

Yes, I have been meaning to report, but I have had a health crisis this week, being diagnosed with an ulcer which has kind of blotted out writing or doing much. But Dushka had a full scan and was then operated on this afternoon. The surgeon has done a complete urinary bypass, as her system was too full of stones to simply remove them, though he has removed from the kidneys. He called me an hour ago to say it had all gone well, and tomorrow will be for checking for any leaks. I can go to visit her tomorrow, though right now I cannot drive, so I am hoping to get someone to take me. I don't know how long she will be in hospital.

(Oh, no. :sigh: In a way, it's good that they found your ulcer, so it could be treated properly, but of all the timing, it's just...not a good time. :alright: If it's the 'h-pylori' ulcer, and you have to take antibiotics, just remember to eat yogurt, bananas, or rice to avoid diarrhea. Hopefully, you are not allergic to these foods. Those meds are strong. My parents and godmom, each had to take a round of meds, and I think godmom had to have a second round.)

(Also, jennyr jennyr , make sure to have your gallbladder checked out, if you still have one, since a few years back, I was getting stomach pain, and it turned out to be gallbladder sludge/stones. The doctor thought it was an ulcer, too. For some reason, the x-rays, and ultrasounds, don't always pick it up, unless it's bad.) Much Health vibes to you for a speedy recovery. :vibes::vibes::vibes::touched::hugs: :hugs:

And extra Health Vibes for little Dushka. :vibes::vibes::vibes::blackcat:
I hope she recovers speedily from the complete urinary bypass, and that tomorrow finds her improving, and on a steady slope to better health. Even if you cannot visit her in the hospital, just getting updates, over the phone, from the vet hospital is okay. Both of you have to recuperate, and get better.
Sending you all mega vibes, health thoughts, and prayers.

I didn't manage to get to see her yesterday, as she was having an ultrasound under sedation and I could not have got there easily. But so far all is going well. They do not have visitors on Sundays, htough there are staff in attendance, so I hope to go tomorrow. By then I am hoping I can drive again - my pain is a lot less and I don't think I am likely to suddenly vomit any more.
