I'm sorry to inform you that my grasshopper passed away today, I found her dead on the bottom of the plastic container.
I'm so sad, I hoped she could live longer and I was planning on bringing her home in the next couple of days. She was at my workplace, in a luminous and warm environment, but next week the place will be closed for the Christmas holidays and the heating would have turned down.
My plan was to buy a case to keep her safe at home. Now I don't need it anymore.

I wonder what I did wrong. She had fresh grasses daily, water and a safe place, what did I do wrong? 😔
Tomorrow I will bury her.

Thank everyone for your kind support, help and info.
What you did was the best to you could, even unto the least of God’s creatures

Antonio you did absolutely nothing wrong. Quite on the contrary - It‘s amazing she lived so long as it’s quite late in the year for adult grasshoppers anyway (although in southern Europe it‘s warmer, it‘s true) but the adult lifespan is only a couple of months. They lay their eggs, hang out a bit and soon after take their last huge leap on gossamer wings to the eternally sunny green meadows over the rainbow.
Thank you for recognizing the meaning and value of her life in our much too anthropocentric world. ❤

I don't think you did anything wrong with regard to your care, it is natural for the adults to die and they don't live long - you might even have extended her life a bit by making sure she had food and warmth longer than she would have access to normally.

I typically don't think it's a good idea to interfere with wild creatures, but I don't think you did any great harm, so please don't worry on that score.

Thank everyone for your kind words of support.
I just buried the grasshopper on a low grassy knoll. I dug a 3 inches deep hole in the ground and laid her on a layer of the grasses she used to it, and gently covered with the dirt from the digging.

I noticed that her eyes turned to red.

RIP my little grasshopper, I would have liked to give you more and a longer life 🌈
