What wonderful cats, @StephenQ! Jenny looks so jaunty hanging on that railing and Felix is so sleek! Senior cats really are wonderful. Our Brooksie was a real cat of habit: if we were up too late, she'd pester that it was time for bed and try to herd us, if guests sat too long, she'd circle and meow at them. She had a real schedule!

Enjoy Jenny: I'll be watching for her updates on Facebook!

Thats really funny because Felix was the same way.  Sometimes guests would stay too long and come out of the bedroom and his at them to tell them its time to leave and that it was time for bed!

I am late, as you already know why... stephenq stephenq .... :hugs: :hugs: BUT time to give my respect to your beautiful :rbheart: Simon. He certainly sounds like he was one of a kind. That he was a very, very special boy to you and touched your heart a little differently than any other. I know it well. What a gift to learn from our cats whom we have lost, to let them be an inspiration for us to carry on and be brave, courageous and take all of their love they gave to us and return it and share it with others. Very beautiful and so hopeful. :rbheart: :heart3: :rbheart: Thank you for sharing.

:rbheart:FLYING FREELY and SOARING HIGH..... Sweet Simon :angel3: ...... you left a great legacy and you were a great teacher of love. You will be missed in the physical sense but know you are near in the spiritual sense now. FOREVER. :rbheart:

Thank you so much.  The deep grieving of his loss is being squeezed out by the long slow pain of missing him, but one of the comforts i take is in knowing that his time had actually come, and that we and his vets made his last moments as comfortable as possible, and as brief as we could manage.  I wonder as we get older if the memories of youth and possibility slowly get supplanted by memories of loss and finality?  A sad thought and yet life has many promises, the least of which is life itself, and the memories of good times.

I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Simon.  He looked like he was a wonderful companion.

May Simon visit you in your dreams giving his mom whiskery kisses.

Prays for your aching heart.

You know, odd you put that statement out there because I feel in the last three years since I turned 50 life has taken a different turn for me with many losses all around the same time and it leaves me with this very low type of thinking, a way of thinking that before never really popped into my mind so much... I don't think our pets can comprehend that like we do but it certainly is a true statement. I think we get to varying stages and levels of life and realize that we are not invincible and the thought of "end of life" lingers in our minds a bit more than ever before. Have to hang on, though, that life DOES have those wonderful promises and one should not want to miss out on one day of that possibility or you may miss something so beautiful - a memory like none other. :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: Thanks for the deep thought. We have to keep on making wonderful memories and each day is that opportunity!!!!!!!! :touch: :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

I've had a similar experience to what @Feralvr mentioned -- a lot of losses last year (at around 50) -- and I've realized how much a part of my life certain people were and still are, even if I hadn't seen them in years. I'm not sure if this will make sense to anybody else, but I'd never realized, for example, how much one of my college housemates had permeated the vocabulary of my thinking -- some of her favorite phrases live on with me! She died last summer and I now realize, because of her death, how many little bits of her have been with me, nearly every day, for years. I think what cats teach us (like crazy habits) can stay with us in a somewhat similar way.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I feel your pain as I am also in a situation where my cat Peterbee is in chf & I was told he's very bad. Hard to deal with very depressing. He is my sweet baby.

Thank you very much.  I had another cat that I lost several years ago to CHF, a very hard to manage disease. Don't feel guilty.  We had the best care, specialists and a major urban hospital, and he only lasted 5 weeks from diagnosis.  I hope you get more time.

Only just found this thread. I'm so, so sorry. Cancer is such a cruel disease - it takes so much so fast. No words can take away the pain. You gave him the best care possible. He was lucky to have you.

RIP sweet boy :rbheart:
