Keep an eye out for red streaks going up from the bite, if it happens go to ER immediately.
Husband was in the hospital for 4 days because of a cat bite, I don't want to scare you but do what Mamany says and mark the wound!!

Just an update:

First, thank you all for the advice and for sharing your stories!

It's been about 3 weeks since the biting incident. I was very, VERY shocked at how much pain it caused. It seemed to get worse for a bit and I had a couple urgent care visits. It was so painful I couldn't even put my hand under the covers because the covers just lightly resting on it was unbearable.

It took about a week before I was capable of any movement in the fingers, and the swelling, stiffness, pain, etc. all finally rapidly decreased last week. As of now, I've finished the antibiotics but I still have a considerable lump on the top of my hand remaining, and minor pain and restricted movement of my fingers and wrist.

I called my primary doctor and I have an appointment next week to see him about it and see if I need a referral to a specialist.

Kitty1 had one or two more episodes of redirected aggression toward me, but I was able to diffuse it and distract him to another area I could close him in to allow him to calm down before anything else happened. It's been at least a week since one of those episodes.

Unfortunately, Kitty2 just bit me on the same arm just now! I'm not entirely sure why or what happened, but it was a brief moment of aggression. He managed to puncture my skin and draw blood, but luckily, it was more in the middle of my forearm, so I think I'm probably safe from any infections in the muscle or tendons, which is what the doctor thought caused my first bite to be so bad.
