I got a kitten!

I don't know if you remember me or not, but I got a kitten two days ago. I did not get one of my friend's barn kittens. I got one from the Humane Society.

He will be 3 months old on May 15. His name is Samuel and he is neutered, vaccinated (first time around), and micro-chipped. He was abandoned.
My dog took to him instantly. They love each other and have been playing endlessly.

I do have a question. What should I diisinfect his litterbox with. I know not to use Lysol.

I usually just dump and refill the litterbox. Then about once a month, I let it soak in hot water with about a cup of bleach added. This will kill any germs!

I like the idea of soaking it in Clorox once a month, but I didn't know if it would damage the cat. Of course I would rinse it well.

I just rinse it well and let it air dry. I've been doing it for about a year, ever since Festus had roundworms and grossed me out!

I soak out the litter boxes with bleach without problems as well. Just make sure they are rinsed and dried well.

Why shouldn't you use Lysol? Don't worry, I haven't used it...I've always used bleach...but why not Lysol?

I don't know where I read it, but I read that Lysol products and onions are toxic to cats and I wrote it down a long time ago so that if I ever got a cat I would be sure not to let either thing come near him.
