I agree with the above. I have fed dry food for years and years. No problems at all. Better than nothing! I created a ‘chicken monster’ now he insists on chicken, so I have fed him for over 5 years on chicken I have to bake every week! He has leukemia though, and is so darn cute!

Who could resist a special needs baby? You are SOOO right though- YOU created the lil chicken monster !🤣 Different circumstances entirely, that homecooked diet is certainly good for FeLV ,will help boost his immune system ,avoiding molds and bacteria and certainly help to live a LONG and happy life❤

My Cheech wouldn't eat wet food if his life depended on it - Cheech used to wet his food himself,he'd dip his paw in the water dish and splash littke sprinkles of water onto his dry food until it was just how he liked it.....he was a very unique fellow- I always kept water away from food until he began nudging the bowl across the kitchen to put it next to the food or visa versa- no idea what prompted him to do it but I accommodated his obvious desire to moisten his food..... but wet food or if I added water first- nope,he had to do it himself!

18yrs he did that .....
🤣 just saw this… cats are funny!

I have a few cats that would strictly want to eat dry food, but I know it adds a lot of weight so I always mix wet cat food in with the dry. Recently, I started with one cat, I give her very little dry frisky food mixed with the wet, then on top of that, I sprinkle four or five little pieces of Dr Elsey’s dry and she seems to eat it better.

Hey- great to see you!Yes they are funny, they do the cutest things.Cheech also put his toys away in the toy box everyday- all on his own,not to my credit.I used to take some out sometimes just to watch him grab it and put it away,so adorable
OMG. hilarious. I have one cat that plays fetch and loves to put the pipe cleaner in the water fountain and then brings it to me to throw. He seems to like the water. I have a water fountain, and he puts his head underneath it. Lol
I had a cat toy that ran by batteries and it had a Fox tail that would poke out from the toy. It finally broke, and I took the tail out of it so now I have two cats that for whatever reason they grab the tail and if it’s upstairs, they bring it downstairs crying with in their mouth, but then they don’t play with it and if it’s downstairs, they do the same thing and bring it upstairs crying. Lol
entertaining to watch them

Kwik Kwik funny you mentioned that toy thing, our cat Zoey did the same thing. My mom would take 4 or 5 toys at night an put them on her bed. She would go into the bathroom wash her face etc and when she came out all the toys would be back in the basket in the living room.Mom didn't get it but that girl was very protective of her toys. You could be playing with her and all of the sudden she would take the toy out of your hand and go put it in the basket. Never had another cat that did this.

How cute & entertaining is that!- oh & I'm certainly not trying to derail Docs Mom Docs Mom thread but I'm sure she'll get a chuckle!❤

You reminded me when Cheech would take his Terry cloth flat mouse ,put it in the water bowl, take it out like a wash cloth and wash his face, head and neck with it- what a human in furry pajamas

just fyi: I discovered Hydra care liquid when blacky was sick
I mix a little water with it and 1 pack lasts me 3 days, Sammy is the only one who really loves it.
you never know your cat might like it, I wish Walli would drink it, I might try again.
I have taken to adding water to Joey's dry food, he likes that sometimes.
Some cat's just love Dry food ugh!

Some cats will waste away if they don't get their dry. The new drys are good. There are even grainfree dry. Don't force your cats to eat something they don't like. especially at 14 years old. I get Blue Buffalo on Amazon and at Tractor supply. It is grain free. Get something they will eat and not waste. I have fed cats for years, especially outside cats, the cheaper dry food, they have all lived as long as they could, if they died it was usually by a car on the road, not nutritional defiencies. Try to enjoy your cats, not worry about what they are eating. Using your words, if tehy prefer it, "Dry food it is!".
Just one thing my vet told me about Blue Buffalo, they see more UTIs with that food than others.

My indoor cats have been consistently picky, but eating wet food for the last 10 years at least.
But now NOTHING pleases them.....
Not Almo, Tiki Cat, Earthborn, Merrick, Rawz, ........ I just can't bring myself to try Friskies or Fancy Feast.
I started the wet food so that they would all be healthier.
They have Crave dry available most of the day.

On top of that, my 14 yr old Zoey has stopped eating. She's had blood tests, radiographs and a quite extensive tumor removal with 2 mastectomies. Wasn't mammary cancer. A very bizarre follicular infundibular cyst. Benign
She is existing on Churus and the Greenies with the soft center.....
Won't eat any canned either. I have gone the feeding e-tube with two other kitties in the past. But she is a very "hands off" cat. I don't think she would handle it very well.

Rant over...
Any ideas?
Don't pass by Fancy Feast Classic, at least for the one who won't eat. I heard a long time ago that it is kitty crack, but not true because one of mine won't eat it. And there are only 3 or 4 flavors the other will eat. According to my vet, it isn't a bad food and I shouldn't feel bad feeding it to him. They also have dry out to graze on, my one had a UTI and now he gets the SO prescription.

Stella and Chewys (in a purple bag with a bottle cap) has a great coarse powder topper that is freeze dried chicken (I think). That I sprinkle on after they sniff and walk away... Some will return and eat some more.
I give my cat Stormy a little pile as a treat.
Stella and Chewys? Is thst a brand?I'd like to try that when they get finicky because with everything else they'll just lick off the topper, maybe powdered is a better idea

I add lysine supplement so many times that's the turn off for them- now I mix the lysine in one FF petites portion, let it sit for about an hour in a Tupperware and then mix it into their food- they're getting fussier and fussier lately and would never touch pate( all 5 of them) A friend gave me a couple of cans of pate and now they are gobbling it up- they can make you crazy sometimes,,can't they?

Fact is they're getting older and their appetites and tastes change-Max is only 3 and eats all his food still like a kitten, no matter what kind of food..

I think around age 7 things start to change....everything but the dry food, they still love their dry food!

I am currently going thru the same exact thing. I’ve fed my cat mostly wet food for 3 years. She ate fancy feast classic pate with no issues for a while. All of a sudden she has zero interest in it. I went and bought $35 worth of 3 ounce cans of different flavors and texture and she hasn’t eaten one!

She would sometimes get a little dry food in the past but has issues but right now that seems to be the only thing she wants to eat.

The urinary food gave her constipation and the digestive food gave her a UTI so right now I’ve mixed them use them up.
