I've downloaded Irfanview but I don't see the screen that is supposed to come at first, the one that says "Open Irfanview" at the top, this is another bust, none of these programs are made for non-techie people. Utter frustration

You should see that box (without the words "Open Irfanview") when you open the program, either by double clicking the icon for Irfanview on your desktop, or by right clicking it and choosing "open".
