How often should a neighbour pop in when I'm away?

So, I'm picking up my new cat on Monday - she's a 3 year old British shorthair, retired queen. Very loving and sweet. Super excited!! (some of you may have read my old post when I was going for a different cat, but that didn't happen!).

So my lifestyle is such that I'm away once a month for 3 nights. One of the reasons why I went for a 3 year old cat, rather than a kitten.

I would welcome experienced owners advice on how often she'll need a visit from a kind neighbour. I go on a Friday lunchtime and back Monday lunchtime, so how many times do you think it's appropriate for a neighbour to pop round? She's a house cat so will need litter tray scooping etc, although I could leave two clean litter trays down when I go. I'm intending on feeding her one wet meal a day and also have an automatic feeder for her kibble. I want to make this as easy as possible and not burden my neighbours too much, whilst providing the cat with what she needs to be happy.

I am not intending on travelling for the first month to ensure she's feeling settled.

Thanks so much

Two times a day (morning and evening) for at least 10-15 minutes would be best, imo — gives a chance to check the place over, clean litter boxes, provide water, and give kitty some socialisation and play time. If possible, having someone come in during the day, as well, would be good, especially if she’s a social cat. Make sure your kitty is familiar with the person or people that would be popping in to check on her before you start having your trips, though :>

When I'm away, the cat-sitter comes twice a day for a short time. Seems to work well, and I've had my cats looked after several times for up to ten days. I do have three of them, so playtime with the sitter isn't a necessity. The cats can beat up on each other for fun (I'm being a bit facetious, but they do play rough together at times)!

IMO, it depends on your cat and how they are with strangers. The twice a day for a few minutes is just right for most cats. They get food, if they are comfortable they get pats or play, and their litter box gets cleaned. But if they really like people and attention, they could use more but only if the neighbor is up for more.
