Hello, I have an american long hair tabby who is constantly shedding. Shes not even especially fluffy but she sheds so very much. So my question is, how can a cat shed so much every day but never appear to have a thinner (or even patchy) coat?
Thank you! :)

What cats and dogs primarily shed in the spring and fall is their undercoat, not their topcoat...so you don't see much difference in the outer coat.

If you live in the northern hemisphere, this is shedding season. You should get a round tooth metal comb with teeth wider apart at one end than the other (it's called a Greyhound comb) and comb her with it every day. This will remove the undercoat while leaving the longer guard hairs in place. If she has expecially silky fur, you can finish up with a flea comb to catch all the little loose hairs on top after you have combed.
