Hello Feline Friendly's out there. I am a cat mom of 6 hairy heathens whom I adore. But out of the 6 one of them "King Louie" acts like he was born in a barn in the middle of no where. Can't touch him, if you try to hold him he sreams and contorts out of the hold, runs from all humans and at times just acts nuts. He was birthed in my home with my help and still he acts like we took him from his home on the streets. Lol the other 5 want love, hugs, scratches, the while works. But not Mr Loulou. Any ideas why????

Hi and welcome to TCS! How old is 'King Louie'? Is he an indoor only cat? How does he get along with the other cats?

Some cats are just more 'stand offish' than others, but their environment can attribute to that, so he may just be the kind that will be a bit less domesticated around so many other cats - even if the others are the complete opposite. Depending on his age, he may eventually become more friendly. The key is to let him do his thing, and don't push physical interactions with him. Most cats need to adapt in their own way, in their own good time.

Maybe some of the tips/info in these articles are things to consider.

Our Sqeeker came to as at 6mt King Louies background. He lived to 15yrs and never liked being held. For years he ran off if we looked at him too long. I was able to give a pet or two when I put his food down. Later on he also demanded morning pets on the back of my chair but we couldn't pet him later.

I seen a lot of similar stories here. Most have warmed up a great deal more than Sqeeker ever did.

The most important thing is to respect his boundaries. Move a slow as he allows. You didn't say his age. Is he afraid when you pick him up or just wants down so he can run and play?

What do you mean by "acts nuts" ? I've had a few high energy Parkour champions.

I refer to that as "Purrkour."

Every cat is a unique individual, just as every human is. If he has always been this way, there may be no cause, other than "That's just who he is." By all MEANS, read those articles. They are full of helpful hints, and any (or all) of those hints may work to one degree or another. The main thing when using these is to look for the little changes. Don't expect him to become a lap cat suddenly...that may not be who he is, but he could well become more interested in human contact on his terms.
