Ming has a slew of issues at the moment. He's in the hospital right now getting treated for pancreatitis. He's diabetic, has chronic pancreatitis, and now he is most likely asthmatic too. Vet is confirming with the ultrasound/radiograph specialist but it's pretty clear to them that there's asthma and I'm not surprised he has it anyway. He coughs and I've been telling multiple vets (until I found my current one) that he coughs.
Anyway, that's not why I'm here ahah! I'm just wondering if anyone has dealt with a cat with high lipase levels in the blood? I've seen it before too with Ming. We did a blood test and his blood was really creamy and bright pink.
At the time, he was eating Fancy Feast and other varieties of cans. So we switched to DM. And then I switched him to raw and here is back again with fatty blood.
Vet said it's often controlled through diet. Perhaps the protein he's eating is high in fats. She said it could also be that he is predisposed to it. Or that it's his pancreas and diabetes making the lipase high.
Again, a SLEW of issues haha!
But I've noticed his blood was bright pink/creamy for perhaps a month whenever I would do his blood glucose readings. I decided to ignore it since he wasn't showing any symptoms of pancreatitis. The first time we saw he had fatty blood, the very next day, he had another pancreatitis flare up.
So to recap: I'm wondering if anyone knows much about high lipase/fatty blood in felines?
