help stopping this behavior. She desperately wants out and clawing the window screen.

Background context is she is in heat. She just got vaccinated so my vet dont want to spay until at least 2 weeks and she's out of heat. I heard some other members here find a clinic that offer TNR cheap service to spay rivel, but there's none. I asked 2 places they all strongly advised to wait until the estrous is finished (due to the organs being enlarged and risks of hemorrhage) plus the vaccine still working means her immune is working hard to make antibodies.

In a sense, i agree too because i heard stories about cats getting complications from same time vaccination+neuter.

As for now i have to lock her inside my room unless under supervision to prevent her hurting herself. if it weren't obvious enough, this is her 3rd time gotten in there. She'd have been trapped there if i wasn't home or worse somehow opened the latch, escape and gotten pregnant (which i don't have the budget to take care extra kitties + pregnant cat care)

She was very mild tempered before this.

I'm so sorry, this is just how cats in heat are. It's extremely annoying but that's life.

Only 12 more days! Maybe invest in some earplugs and calming tea (for you), lol.

IF she does succeed in getting out, you can still keep her spay appointment. An early pregnancy spay/abort isn't any different from a regular spay.

Yeah she is definitely getting spayed regardless plus it reduces risks for cancer too. Since she's new in the house, i wonder how much of it is her regular personality. I hope not because from the past year i have known her on the streets and the first few days in the house she was super chill.

But yeah, my room isn't too big around 3x4 meters. I left some toys and her scratching post in there i hope she isn't feeling too locked up inside there if i work. If i sleep then i will just have to deal with it :p

They sell pet proof window screen mesh, but if she can rip the whole thing out of the frame it won't help I guess. I think its mostly so they don't make holes in it with claws.

You could always live the Hobo life for two weeks and put something over the screen. Although then the cat might find something else.

Yeah, i will probably try some thick cardboard tomorrow. Should i add double side tape to the surface too to discourage her furthe. Are regular stationery double tape safe?

A lot of people talk about using double sided tape. I've had a cat that liked to eat tape, so YMMV, but it should be safe. Just, you know, shift gears if the cat seems interested in eating it.

W Willowy are cats in heat also less inclined to play? She used to love chasing feather sticks around now she mostly just give lazy swat and maybe pounce one or twice then completely lost interest

Yes, she doesn't have anything on her mind besides getting outside to a tom. There are some videos on YouTube that show you how to deal with a cat in heat - or calling, as they say in the UK.

Pet screen is a good idea. It's expensive, but worth it. Mingo went straight through my old screen door after an intruder cat and I had to replace it with pet screen.

yeah i do that and it helped for an hour or 2.

it's awkward that she started showing me her butt up whenever we cuddle if she's in peak heat :flail:

haha yes it's normal, can be pressed a few times a day, especially when she starts doing the mating calls. after 3-5 days she won't be in heat and won't show her butt again.
