I noticed a thread on here about someone asking about L-lysine in the cat food they were feeding. That prompted me to inquire to the company about the food that I feed my kitty, that also contains L-Lysine. I asked them for a ball park on how much L-Lysine was in a serving of food. And this is what they replied.

Feline Calm formula: L-lysine 4.1 g/1000 kcal or 1.45 g/cup (1 cup = 96 g.)

Sooo, if the general rule is to give kitty 500mg daily for Feline Herpes management, do I still need to supplement? How much would she be getting with just the food alone? Her recommended feeding amount (based on her weight) is a half cup a day.

Well if their math is correct on 1.45g per cup, (1450mg) then per half cup is 725mg.

OK thanks, that's what I thought but I really don't trust my math and conversion skills.
