So my cat is around 65 days pregnant. Today we have discovered this substance. Not too sure what it is. Is this a sign of labor ? She has been asleep all day and went to eat and been in her litter tray and perked up a bit after then. She is now asleep again. Her belly has got tighter and i think has dropped today. Any help would be appreciated on what this is ? It is a bit gross so sorry😆

From your text it seems she has dropped, and that substance is almost surely her mucus plug, which they most often lose shortly before delivery...

So, its going along the plans. Delivery in 1, at most 2 days.....

During the time you wait, be sure she gets calcium rich food. Whatever you have at home and she eats.
Cant hurt, may help.

Thank you so much for your reply!! Still no kittens. To be totally honest this is a longggg waiting game. I’ll keep you updated. This is her 😍 Also, what breed would you say she is? As we got given her not long back and pregnant so we don’t know much about her, she looks young too. Do you think delivery will be okay?

Breed is the easiest, she is surely a solid blue domestic. Also, if the giving one knew something or had a good guess, they would tell it.. She seems very heatlhy, so with any luck, the delivery should go well. Yet, the wise is always prepared. The prepared is guarded by God himself. as the proverb tells, no?

Yeah, the waiting game is not very fun... Yet it is a phase worth to go through, when you think on it afterwards... And your frendship with her deepens, as you are taking care of her when she needs some extra help....

Why, even if she were a rescued shy ferale, she would thus become fostered to you, - by this helping her in her time of need....

Yes, its perfectly normal. When she has dropped, they are further down in the birthing channel. So you feel them in another place - and usually they move less, because they are even more squeezed.

She could have them any time now. Do you know exactly when she conceived?

An X-ray would tell how close to full term the kittens are. My cat was huge and looked ready to pop and the vet said the X-ray showed 7-10 days left. She had 4 perfect kittens 12 days later.

If she’s acting normally I suggest waiting.

how is it going? as she seems to have dropped several days ago, it should result by now.

The kittens are breathing heavy? It’s usually mom breathing heavy as nursing is very hard work as her body adjusts. Be sure to give mom extra calcium in the form of a dish or two a day of quality kitten formula.

Also, weigh the kittens daily in grams to make sure they are gaining 6-10 grams (or more) per day.

Mom will normally stimulate the kittens to pee and poop with her tongue. Just because you’ve not seen anything does not mean they are not eliminating. However, if you are concerned, you can also stimulate here and there yourself. I never had to do so with my cat’s litter, and over time, bedding needs refreshing as there will be accidents and stains as they grow and consume more.

Momma usually takes care of all such details. Many breeders tells, they never see no poo nor urine.

Its typically almost only rescuers and such whom take care about orphans whom must take care of such details...

Weight are good, above average. So the start is good...

Ps ONE reason for moms to breeth deeply is, she has afterpains. That is completely normal, unless you really see problems...

also i’ve realised she gets very overwhelmed if any of the kittens squeak. i’ve read up and squeaking is obviously them trying to communicate for feeding and wanting mum. she is getting overwhelmed and looks at me for comfort and help so i stroke her and then stroke the kittens to say all is okay. she then seems to calm down. but if they are squeaking and she has had enough she will groan at them. never heard her do it before. is this something to be concerned about? thank you
