Okay so I guess I'm a bit late with the introductions since I've already been posting on the site for a few days now but I only just noticed this section lol.

Anyways hey all, I'm Sky and I live in Canada! As mentioned in the title I'm a first time pet owner, so try not to judge me too harshly if some of my questions are pretty basic

Anyways I'm the guardian of Rayleigh, a sweet 8-10 year old gentleman I adopted from a cat rescue two weeks ago.

My little guy unfortunately didn't get the best start in life: he came to me with several scars on his cheek and neck, and had had all but one of his canines removed because they were fractured when he was surrendered to my city's animal services.

Despite everything though, he's truly the sweetest boy I could possibly hope for. He sometimes gives me gentle nibbles or bats my hands away when I annoy him, but hasn't once used his claws.

He's not particularly cuddly, but he gets very purr-y in the mornings, when he jumps up next to me on my bed and we spend a good half hour getting some good ear scritches and quiet time lying next to each other.

I haven't had him long, but I'm so glad he came into my life!

Welcome to you and Rayleigh, your Grand Old Man. He's gorgeous. And, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving a loving home to an older cat. They can be so very hard to place, and they are such wonderful companions!

Yeah! I'd heard that older cats have a harder time getting adopted, so I really wanted to give one a chance.

I was pretty adamant that I wanted a senior when I started looking. Since I work full time and live alone in a studio apartment, a chill, low-energy senior is just perfect for my lifestyle. Then I saw Rayleigh on petfinder, and it was honestly love at first sight tbh. I almost didn't get him, since another family had already almost finished the process to adopt him when I sent in my application. When the adoption fell through, it honestly felt like fate
