Hello everyone. I grew up with cats, but this is my first time taking care of my own indoor cat. I initially planned wait a few years before getting a cat, but then I met this male kitten.

He showed up on a farmhouse doorstep late December with no collar as a half-grown kitten. The closest neighbors are half a mile away in either direction. He was clearly a pet, he was very social, ate hungrily, had ribs showing but not starved, and was later discovered to have trimmed back claws. He even climbed onto our shoulders. I took him in three weeks later, due to predicted cold winter night temperatures. I put him in a single 'cat-proofed' room. He had some fleas, some cat lice, ear fungus, and a roundworm. He had some diarrhea at first. The vet did not find any microchip, and I have not heard about anyone looking for a lost kitten. He was a very energetic kitten. I eventually named him Pippin.

Pippin the male cat:

He is now in good health and up to date on rabies shot. He just needs to be fixed.

He likes to jump onto counters and tables and the fridge-top. Perhaps a cat tree will help reduce that.
All in all, he is a good cat. He accepts a little petting before he is overstimulated. He rubs his face on me, and occasionally sleeps on my lap. For some reason he doesn't climb onto my shoulders anymore, but that's ok.
