I am a 14.5 year old “domestic longhair” according to my vet, however my mom thinks I could be a Maine coon or even a nebelung cross breed

im curious on everyone else’s opinions on what her breed might be , when at the vet she weighed around 8 pounds & I was told she would eat until she got sick even when not hungry (unsure if that says anything about her breed lol)

her personality is super sweet and cuddly and she follows me like she’s my shadow

she isn’t the most talkative kitty unless being given soft food of course

Welcome! Frankly, I'm still sitting here with my jaw in my lap. MY GOODNESS, that is a magnificent, ruff your girl is sporting! I can see where you would think that one of those two breeds is in there somewhere! And her tail seems to have an absolue lion-like tassle on the end, or was that just the angle of the photo?

Regardless, the truth of the matter is, without a DNA test it is almost impossible to make a really good guess at breeding. Could be, but...differences in cat breeds are far more subtle than in dogs. If you want to explore this, there are DNA testing labs for cats. I did a quick google, and found that there are several "We tested these companies" reports. I used to recommend UCLA Davis, as they are leaders in the field, but I see that they no longer mail out test kits. There was something about using a cotton swab, but I did NOT read deeply into it. If you are confident that you can get the sample without cross-contamination, they're still probably HIGH on accuracy.
