It works and works well. We give it to or cat once every three days and over the the past four months, we have only seen 3 hairballs.

If my local vet doesn't carry it, how do I get it?  I have two long hairs and some morning are an obstacle course of avoiding vomit in my bare feet!!  Please advise because I need a case of the stuff!!!! Thanks in advance for your reply!

Perhaps your vet's office could contact the manufacturer and order it for you.  You could also see if there any other vet's offices in your area that carry it.  If you find one that has it perhaps you could see if your vet could make arrangements for you to buy it through that office. Some vet's have a referral network they use for things they can not treat perhaps you can ask your vet if there are any vet specialists they work with in the area and contact them to see if they stock the product.

I just had my cat at the vet yeasterday and he changed her food.  The food she had been on was "hairball remedy".  When I asked about hairballs while using this new food, he gave me a sample of Capilex Feline Hairball Control.  My cat loves it.  SHe is pretty fenicky but ate this right up.  It looks a lot like Bit-o-Honey candy.  Haven't had time to see if it will work but so far, so good.  Good luck!

Yes I have.  I have the box here and the ingredients are: Vegetable Oil, Maltodextrin, Croscarmellose Sodium, Flavor, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Lecithin, Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Bromeliain.  I got this from the vet and it cost around $10.  Now she doesn't sell it anymore and the only way to get it is through a vet.  I have a very picky, long haired rag doll cat that only eats dry cat food and drinks water, that's it.  Just offering it to him as a treat doesn't do any good.  I break it in half and drop on top of his dry cat food, and don't give him any more food until it's all eaten, lol. It seems to help some, but getting him groomed and using Furminator shampoo seems to help a lot.   I'll have to ask the vet if she can order it special for me.  This was the only place in town that did cat grooming.  Small town, not many vets.

If your veterinarian does not carry it, Capilex is available online at Auroraanimalhealth.com (Aurora Animal Health). Click on the Easy Chew Products tab. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much Paul1 for posting the Capilex link, so helpful! I was just able to place an order, my cat has been using Capilex for a couple of years and our vet office stopped selling it, had no idea where to find this--haven't found it anywhere else online or around where I live.

For anyone still wondering if Capilex works, it has worked great for my cat---he loves the taste (runs across the apartment after just hearing me open the box) and every time he eats one, there is fur passed through his stool within next 48 hours. Before giving him Capilex and changing his diet to raw, he used to cough a lot and frequently vomit after eating. Happy it hasn't happened in a long time--between the Capilex, brushing him 3-4 times weekly, and his raw diet, he hasn't had any hairballs.

It's also great that the ingredients seem safe (as far as I can tell with my non-medical background). One box lasts us around 7 months, but that's because he doesn't need to eat it everyday. I crush it up on a plate for him and he makes it disappear in 30 seconds or less :)
