My brother's cat, Pigwidgeon, is very odd. Behavior-wise, I find him very frustrating-- he claws at closed doors, he meows at the walls, he's weirdly aggressive, etc. I much prefer my cats to anyone else's, but this guy is downright mean. He's cost me about 1k total in vet bills from beating up my dog and my older cat.

Physically, he just looks weird. Has anyone ever seen/heard of a cat who was supposed to be two kittens in the womb, but maybe something happened while in utero and it never developed/split properly?

He's quite large. His face, particularly his nasal bridge, is wide. He has a third canine tooth jutting straight down the middle of his top jaw (where the tiny central incisors should be). His nose pad is broad, and has a strip of fur that extends almost all the way through it. He has what appear to be a few extra nipples.

I don't remember him looking this odd as a kitten, but as an adult, he is quite the sight.

It's always bothered me...just curious if anyone has seen/heard of a similar thing.

I have indeed seen similar things. In fact, when I was a child conjoined or malformed animals was a somewhat morbid and curious interest of mine. Where I live we had a museum nearby of these animals preserved in glass jars. Two headed pigs, six legged kittens etc. A specialist museum for the collection of taxidermy of malformed animals. This type of thing would probably not be formed today, and sadly the museum "Jamaica Inn" and it's contents were sold to the highest bidder in the early 2000s. They were quickly seperated into small private collections. Likely most kittens that are formed in this way do not survive, whilst he is mean and annoys you he is certainly special! only in cornwall

Hi there, mind to share us the pictures? Once I saw a goat, similar with his conditions. But unfortunately it did not survive too long because there were some complications due to the malformed physic :(

I will try to get some photos this weekend! He lives with my mom while my brother is away for the Navy.

He's not SUPER deformed or anything-- I think it's just obvious to anyone who knows cats that maaaaybe something isn't quite right with him. That third canine has always bugged me

I didn't get to go to my mom's this weekend, but she did send me this picture randomly, which is a start :p I'm going to ask if she has any more of Pig.

He's the cat in the middle. I zoomed in the best I could. The cat on the left is Nyxie; the cat on the right is Cooper.

You can see the third canine very well (it always sticks out); you can kind of see the strip of fur going up his nose. He has fairly small eyes and what, to me, is a very wide nasal bridge.

Mean, weirdo cat he is :p

Wow, he is quite unusual looking. I know @jcat had some quite unique looking cats at the shelter she helps out at. Maybe she's seen something like this before?

We had some cats (probably father and offspring/half-siblings) from a feral colony that resembled Grumpy Cat; some had limbs that were shorter and thicker than normal, too, but I haven't seen any with such an unusual nose. There's so much inbreeding in some colonies or neighborhoods that slight deformities are to be expected, I guess.

Hmm, makes sense. He came from down the road at a barn; one of several siblings. I wonder if inbreeding is what made my cat Keegan all weird.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that can see something being a little off. My mom is convinced he's totally normal :p

Gerg and arnold say.... no wonder hes grumpy his tooth is sticking out. Take him to the dentist. Nothing like a few hours in the dentists chair to cheer up ones spirits.

Hmmmmmmm.........closer inspection shows his pupils arent the same size. There might be more to this story than dental issues.

He's been battling nasal cancer for well over a year. The wonky pupils might be related to that. He never had surgery, or radiation or anything...my parents just used homeopathic treatments.

Here he is in May of last year. This was not him at his worst.

Oh, and just to note-- the nasal bridge, the fur on his nose, etc. did not appear AFTER the tumor, but they did make me wonder if his cancer is a teratoma.

Im not a medical specialist, but he does seem to have some physical and perhaps emotional issues. I can only suggest you try to keep him comfortable, look after his needs, give him love and affection and let things play out as they do. Keep your other animals safe from him.
If you were to give him up, his chances of being adopted might be slim. You may be his only hope.

Oh, he won't be given up!!

To clarify, he lives with my parents-- not with me. He's my brother's cat, and my brother is in the Navy, so he's currently in Michigan (we live in Indiana). They treat him with various remedies anytime his "nose acts up". He's best friends with Cooper. I think he has a decent life, all things considered. He's about six years old, and he's lived about a year longer than what the vet thought he would have.

He might be a Janus cat. It's not a conjoined twin issue, it's a genetic flaw where the two halves of the face spread out instead of joining together and the farther the spread, the more likely facial features will be duplicated. The medical term is diprosopus.

Frank and Louie was a famous Janus cat. He hit the genetic lottery as his case was pretty severe (as the pictures can attest) but due to one esophagus not working he had the internal structures working the way they should to stay alive.

hahahaha thanks for the pictures, what a wonderful cats they are!
As I saw the pictures, yes he is a perfectly normal cat. I think he's just having a different and variety type of faces, just like us humans. I believe that characteristic are in cats and dogs as well.

Once I saw ginger cat in the article that has a wide nasal and cheeks too, people say he looks like Ron Perlman:

He's doing better than he was, but sometimes he has days that are worse than others. I think he is in pain, but he still plays with his sisters and eats very well. Sometimes his third eyelids slide over about half of his eyes, and he becomes very quiet and sits in the corner and doesn't do anything. I always assume he has an awful headache during those times :( I wish she would take him to the vet, but her vet doesn't really offer any palliative treatments, so they do their best at home.

Yep, agreed. I have such little sway with my parents when it comes to that.

I'm sure money is also playing into it.
