I took her to the Vet's today, as she had steadily been getting worse with urinary and bowel issues. They checked her for UTI (several different Vets at several different clinics), and she has been on Miralax for her holding stool. SO, SO many tests and so many different meds and exams and nobody could now figure out what was going on. She had, in the past, also had several acute UTI's. But this time...nothing. But she was so miserable and when I took her to the Vet's. They said maybe more tests? Maybe send her to Ohio State? I have to say, at this point, I easily have over $5,000 in tests and Vet visits and she is 8 years old. I am now on a fixed income and I looked at her, saw how very miserable she is and has been, despite all the Vet visits and meds and I finally asked to have her mercifully put down this morning.
I have had her since 3 1/2 weeks old, when I rescued her from an old Grain Mill and bottle fed her. Taught her how to use the litter box etc. Little Bean thought I was her Mama and still, to this day, thought that! She LOVED being held like a baby and was happiest when she was in my arms. I will miss you SO, SO much sweet baby girl. Go now, and be with my MissyKitty, Spikey Kitty and KatyDid Kitty. They will remember and love you always until we meet again dear one..... Oh, this is so difficult. The autopsy (Necropsy) came back tonight and the Vet said it is Neurological to the Bladder and Colon area in the lower abdomen. (A problem I saw in the feral community she was born into...…)

Sometimes, no matter how much we want it to be different, it is their time and they must leave us. It sounds like you made the right decision to end the suffering and the misery, she looked to you to do this with thankfulness and gratitude. You tried so hard to help her and she knew that, she already had everything she ever wanted in this world, a wonderful home and her 'mommy'. ....
The bond you built over the years will always be with you, it is forged from love and is spiritual, not bound to this earth like the frail physical body. Although the grief seems unending and soul destroying right now, time will help you to distance yourself from it's sharp edges, and one day you will realize that she wants for you to feel the joy in life once more, to send that joy to her through your thoughts and prayers, and in this way she will continue to live through you.
She left you a precious gift, the gift of the memories of her love. She would like nothing more than to have you share this gift, to add to it and help it grow. Like a parent with many children, each one is unique and precious. Each one adds to the precious horde in your soul and helps the other to bloom and grow. Not be hidden in the darkness of grief and tears. Just as you would want for her if you were the first to go, so she wants for you, the one she loves above all else.
My heart goes out to you, I know how much this hurts and how long it takes to heal a broken heart. Try not to dwell on the end, all those should haves, could haves, they bring nothing but heartache and change nothing. Instead concentrate on her life and what she gave to you. Make that life more important than the death, because it is.......RIP precious Bear. You meant so much to the one that grieves for you now. One who will always keep your memory safe in a secure place deep in a loving heart. May the good Lord bless and keep you, until you meet again!

What a touching story, you were a wonderful parent to her and went above and beyond what most would have done, but it was just her time to leave sadly. But she is just fine now, no more issues, and you will see her again one day and it will be wonderful....

I am sorry for your loss, I hope that your heart heals a bit more each day, Lord Bless you...:alright: :grouphug: :rbheart:

:grouphug:Thank you all, so very, very much for all your kind and caring words. My heart is so sad, but your kindness goes that much farther at this time...…. I know I will meet her again, along with my other darling, much-loved kitties who have gone to the Rainbow Bridge too. But, today, I miss her so very much...….. Thank you again.

Your story (and the responses) made me cry. I am so thankful I found this site 4 years ago when I went through the loss of my first cat...and I am about to face the loss of number 2...my cat "soul mate." I am trying hard to cherish what time we have left. It's so difficult. My heart breaks for any cat parent who has had to let go <3 You did the right thing, and the best thing.

Rest you gentle, Little Bean, dream you deep. You walk in your Mama's heart forever.

You made the hardest and most unselfish choice we ever had to make, and your Little Bean blesses you for it. How kind, to be helped out of one life that has become a misery, and into Another One. Love never dies, you know, it only changes form and continues on, still Love. Love abides. You helped Little Bean to shrug off her heavy coat of flesh and fur that could no longer support her sweet heart and loving spirit. Now, she dances on starlight in a place where eternity is but a moment, waiting for the moment when, in the fulness of time, you join her in that joyous Dance.
