My family is so lucky
to have Callie in our lives.  She is my little baby.
(And when I say she's a baby, I really mean it.  Callie is a full-grown adult at only 7 pounds with an disproportionally tiny head, and whines like nobody's business!)

We were not looking to adopt a second feline into our family when we found Callie.  We already had Coco, who is a very anxious cat and had some extremely stressful experiences living with other cats (before she came to live with us).  But we stopped by the Petco store near my parents' house (not the store we typically frequent!), and it was love at first meow.  Callie and I made eye contact from several feet away and she called out to me.  From that moment, our fate was sealed.

We were so lucky
to have stopped into that particular store that day, and that no one had taken her home during the 2-3 weeks she'd been there (still not sure how she was there so long, given how cute she is!).  Callie has provided me with so much love and support through some really difficult times this past year.  I am truly lucky
to have her in my life.

And Coco, while wary at first, warmed up to Callie quite quickly.  I believe Coco also feels lucky
that we found Callie.  She now has a best friend (and partner in crime) to keep her company while my husband and I are at work.

Finally, an interesting fact... calico kitties are considered lucky
in Japanese culture.  According to Wikipedia, "[white] cats are seen to bring about the happiness of its owner, along with purity, and positive energy.  The luckiest of all the colors is considered to be the calico colored cat; black is meant to lure away evil spirits, and gold for monetary good fortune." Cats and luck.  My cat Sparkle enjoyed being out on the balcony when I lived in an  apartment.  And in the Autumn she would catch and bring in many leaves.  I used to joke that I had to rake up once I'd get home from work!  She never shredded them, but she would play with them as they were always in every room of the apartment.

That is one lucky kitty, who gets to live in a place with a balcony where she can catch and collect leaves!

According to Buddhists, dark colored cats attract gold and light colored cats bring silver.

Our beloved Rojita was a "rare" red tabby beauty who LOVED to play.  She'd get so tangled up in her own arms, legs, and tail that one friend of ours called her a "cute little pretzel".  I miss her so much.

They're lucky they're all so handsome and I'm lucky to have managed a family portrait, thanks to the new cat tree.
But I can't get it uploaded. My phone is evil and hateful.

Cats and Luck.  Chestnut was a little tiny thing when he arrived here.  Some time later, I bought a new item (no longer recall what) and it was in a big box.  I'm talking 58 inches long x 16 x 6 or something like that.  I left the box on the living room floor while I got things set up.

Baby Chestnut - I called him that till the day he died, age 18 ha haaa - scrambled up the back end of the box and . . . the wide long part  gave under his weight and he slid down the long side, to the carpet.  Hey, this is FUN!  He scrambled up the back end again and off he went, down the slide!  Well, that box stayed in my living room several MONTHS as he really enjoyed his slide.  Now and then one of the others - Amber, Sparkle or Vita - would be inside the box.  As Chestnut slid down, you would see paws flick out trying to bat him as he reached the bottom!  So much pleasure for me, so much fun for the kitties!  And all just luck that I bought that item that day.

Callie looks like my little calico named Kitty. Kitty is considerably smaller than her brother. I think Kitty is an American Wirehair because the hair on her back feels like dog hair.

Kitty in her safe room.

Kitty was quite the hand full at first. She pulled a metal grate off the floor and went down the duct. I had to pull a section of duct work out to get her.

I put a 55 pound counter weight on the metal grate to keep her out.

Kitty at the cottage.

Kitty is timid and extremely affectionate. I was concerned with her small size at first but I guess she is naturally small.

Omg, what a LUCKY  coincidence you saw my post!  Callie's name at the shelter was actually Kitty... we changed her name when we adopted her!

They really do look so much alike.  Callie is also a very tiny cat (~7 pounds).

Callie is also extremely affectionate, but she is not timid at all!  She is a fearless little girl.

This is the Turkish Van cat.

Some Turkish Vans have a colored spot between the shoulder blades.  This spot is called "The Thumbprint of God," and cats having it are considered to confer great good luck on their humans.

Tiny snowshoe Sishya was a sickly little kitten I scooped up from our side yard and brought in.  She was always a very private little cat, very intelligent and with quite a sense of humor.  One time I was fortunate enough to capture her playing when she was not aware I was observing her.  It will always be one of my favorite videos.
