I do not have an electric mixer. Would this cake come out ok mixing by hand? Thanks

In my experience, most cakes work just fine mixed by hand (after all,that's how cakes were made for hundreds of years ;) ), but it's a LOT more work and time. They usually won't be quite as light either. If you have the muscle and the patience, give it a try....and let us know how it turns out :D

This is late, but I have some really old recipes from my mom, which must be BEFORE she had a mixer.. they could even be my grandmothers recipes..

They call for beating a cake at X amount of beats per minute for X amount of minutes.. 

Can you imagine the workout!???
