Well had 3 big amazing huge sunflowers that were baked last night and are just wonderful!

BUT, most shells turned out to be empty!

Yep, maybe 1 out of every 5 have a seed, what the heck is up with that??!!

Tried getting info through google, possibly lack of bees or water?

Strange, so disappointed!

Anyone know what caused this?

My first and possibly last time, lol, who knew this happens...top it off, the ones that are there are toasty and delicious, making it even worse, just a tease!

what sunflowers were you trying to grow? Because those fancy new goodlookin' ones are hybrids, meaning you cannot grow them from seed but have to buy the seeds. Sorry.

I'm currently trying to grow some heirloom ones. That is, I put some seeds into the ground a couple weeks ago and started watering. Nursery said they should bloom for the fall. Anyway, it's still time to put them seeds down to have nice ones for Thanksgiving

No idea, but huge heads loaded with seeds, er should I say shells, most had no seed inside though, but clearly were meant to since some do.
