Peter is getting a few more berries each day because they are starting to get squishy. Here he is munching on a blackberry this morning.

This very blurry one was his morning "I gotta potty!" run. He's a very picky bun and doesn't potty all night because he only will go in one spot in the furthest spot from his hutch.

I ended up at the farmers market again so Peter got another tray of berries. Just blackberries this time because the tray was bigger and just one berry type per tray.

I do try to stick with what is in season (actually in season, not greenhouse grown) so that Peter doesn't get too much fruit. Fruit is a sugar and too much sugary food can cause problems for bunnies too. By sticking to just a few berries and only during the season, Peter doesn't get addicted to sugar or over does it. He does get freeze dried fruit nightly but I only give him freeze dried with no additives or preservatives and only 2-3 pieces so he doesn't over do it there either.

Peter got fresh carrots with the top still on from the farmers market this week. I picked out the bunch with the smallest carrots on purpose because carrots have a lot of sugar. Less carrot body but just as much carrot top gives him a treat without being too sugary.

Farmers Market Day!

Peter will get most of the lettuce and cilantro plus a good portion of the strawberries and blackberries. Everything else is for the humans (even the carrots, he gets the green tops but carrots themselves are high in sugar and he prefers berries for his sugary treat). It's the end of blackberry season so this will probably be his last tray of those for the year. Peter saying "please may I have more blackberries", nope just one blackberry and strawberry now and one more at dinner. Can't over sugar the bunny (which honestly we are pushing it with four berries in a day.... But they are the last blackberries for the year).

Raw foods & enzyme nutrition... what's not to like? That's a lucky rabbit right there, not just the foot but the whole darned critter, LOL.
I try to pay attention to nutrition profiles and give him a mix to get most of his vitamins and minerals from raw foods. I make sure he gets freeze dried fruits as opposed to dried so that it retains more of the nutrition profile too (when the fresh produce isn't available).

Peter had his annual well rabbit check. His weight is good (but he shouldn't gain more), ears look good, eyes are nice and bright. Basically he is a healthy bunny and looks good.
Thanks for the update on Peter. So glad to hear he passed with flying colors.

I got a new phone and saw a sale on blackberries (this will be his last berries until the spring, he might get some squash or melon along with his normal mix) so you all get a little Peter photo shoot......
