Found Lost Cat But Gives Wrong Phone Number

So there was a lost cat poster with a very old grey cat with a white spot on her neck with emerald green eyes (very beautiful ) to my surprise I spotted her today but she ran away I tried to contact the owner but it gave me a phone number that doesn't even exist! Please help

Have you tried contacting the vets in your area. They might well know the cat and owner. Is there a chance you could catch the cat, it might be chipped

Also check with local shelters to see if the owners have called in about the cat. OH, and many radio/tv stations have a free "lost and found" feature once a week. Check that out, as well!

The cat seems long gone unfortunelyI just feel guilty how I coundn't reunite the cat with it's owner

Cats can be very canny about finding their way home, even after being lost for some time. We'll cross our fingers that this one did! OR was taken in by some other kind soul.

You may also check FB for a lost and found pets in your area. You could at least post on there that you saw this cat and the cross streets in case the owner has FB and looks at this page.
