Allergy notice

Calise & Sons Bakery Inc. produced Italian Scala Bread but packaged it in another product’s bags, prompting the company to initiate a recall.

Italian Scala bread with sesame seeds was packaged as golden flax seed Scala bread, according to the company’s recall notice posted by the Food and Drug Administration.

The bread was distributed to markets in Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut. The recalled packages have a white plastic clip closure with a sell-by date of 12-06 and Julian date of 327.

"FDA recall covers two lots of BioLifePet Liquid Probiotics and LiviaOne Liquid Probiotics. Both product lots are potentially contaminated with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a bacteria that can infect humans and cause serious illness in some people."

Why I'm cross posting. The above means if you give it to your pets you may be affected.

The Wyoming Legislature’s unanimous vote earlier this year on House Bill (HB) 95 means the state requirement that a game warden must first provide a tag before a resident can claim big game roadkill won’t any longer be mandated.

Netherlands -
The Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) figures on inspections show issues range from food safety to animal welfare and health.

In 2019, the NVWA issued 535 written warnings and 361 fines to large slaughterhouses with permanent supervision in the Netherlands. In 2020, the numbers rose to 577 warnings and 417 fines. Many of the violations were related to hygiene, which can impact food safety.

Japan -
E. coli was behind a large-scale food poisoning outbreak that involved about 3,000 school students and staff in Japan this past year, according to a study.

The investigation found the 2020 outbreak was caused by red seaweed used in a salad contaminated with E. coli O7:H4. The seaweed had been imported in 2017.

Canada -
In a public health notice, officials report a Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak of unknown origin is continuing to grow, with patients spread across five Canadian provinces.

As of Dec. 9, there were 16 new confirmed patients, bringing the tally to 79, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada. Four people have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.

“Many of the individuals who became sick reported eating fresh avocados purchased from grocery stores or served at restaurants before their illness. Investigation findings to date have identified that these avocados have been distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. More information is needed to confirm the source of the outbreak. The outbreak appears to be ongoing, as illnesses continue to be reported,” according to public health officials.

USA - Recall -

The Coca Cola Company is recalling certain Minute Maid products because of the potential of foreign objects, specifically metal bolts or washers.

The recalled products were distributed in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Maine and New Jersey, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

There is concern that consumers may still have the products in their homes because of their long shelf life, which extends into 2022.
