UK - UK survey shows Salmonella decline in frozen breaded chicken

US - Revive Superfoods no longer has Tara as a listed ingredient -
article by Bill Marler. So, who is he? Should you care? You decide. Bill Marler is an accomplished personal injury lawyer and national expert on foodborne illness litigation. He began representing victims of foodborne illness in 1993, when he represented Brianne Kiner, the most seriously injured survivor of the Jack in the Box E. coli O157:H7 outbreak, resulting in her landmark $15.6 million settlement. Marler founded Food Safety News in 2009.

That the ingredient was removed after his article came out is interesting.

/revive_superfoods_smoothies_liver_issues_sickness/ it certainly seems that the numbers of ill coming forward are growing of people with nearly identical acute symptoms – abnormal liver enzymes and bilirubin, many with gallbladder involvement. Many have had multiple blood tests, MRIs, CTs, ultrasounds, with likely liver biopsies and gall bladder removals. As I said yesterday, the common ingredient in Daily Harvest outbreak is Tara

Europe - Update on Barry Callebaut - affecting Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom

One batch of lecithin was unloaded at the Wieze factory on June 25. Barry Callebaut confirmed Salmonella Tennessee has been identified in the lecithin system of the factory and in samples of the delivered material. This batch came from a lecithin manufacturer in Hungary and was transported by a third party. The lecithin involved is only used at this site.

US - What would have been a recall, but technically wasn't, perhaps you should treat it as one.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert for rendered pork fat products ...
FSIS was notified by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets that the rendered pork fat products were produced and shipped into commerce without the benefit of FSIS inspection. ...
A recall was not requested because the products are no longer available for purchase. However, FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators or pantries.

China (with global implications) - China has linked seven COVID-19 outbreaks and almost 700 cases to contaminated imported frozen food packaging materials.
Scientists said the work supports speculation that cold-chain foods act as a pathway for SARS-CoV-2 and might present a risk for virus transmission between countries and regions.

Who is the guy in charge of the FDA? Long answer from Wikipedia may explain somethings you guys have been wondering about.

Here is our present guy in Wiki - Robert Califf

Relationships with the pharmaceutical industry

Califf worked very closely with pharmaceutical companies at the Duke clinical trials center "convincing them to do large, expensive, and, for Duke, profitable clinical trials."[12] He was a paid consultant for Merck Sharp & Dohme, Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, and Eli Lilly per ProPublica from 2009 to 2013. The largest consulting payment was $87,500 by Johnson & Johnson in 2012, and "most of funds for travel or consulting under $5,000", which has been called "minimal for a physician of his stature".[13] From 2013-2014 he was paid a total of $52,796, the highest amount was $6,450 from Merck Sharp & Dohme, followed by Amgen, F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG, Janssen Pharmaceutica, Daiichi Sankyo, Sanofi-Aventis, Bristol-Myers Squibb and AstraZeneca.[14] He was the Director of Portola Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from July 2012 to January 26, 2015,[13] An advisor of Proventys, Inc., Chairman of the medical advisory board of Regado Biosciences, Inc. and has been a member of the medical advisory board since June 2, 2009, and a member of the clinical advisory board of Corgentech Inc.[15] Forbes wrote that his close ties to the drug industry were why he was not nominated for the FDA Commissioner position in 2009.[12] Califf's ties to the pharmaceutical industry were criticized by the magazine The American Prospect,[16] and Democratic Senators Bernie Sanders and Joe Manchin who announced their intention to vote against his 2021 renomination.[17]

Canada - As of June 30, reports included a total of 84 cases of Cyclospora infections in the following provinces: British Columbia (1), Ontario (75), and Quebec (8). At this time there is no conclusive evidence as to the source, however, it's suggested the cyclospora travels on the following foods. None of these maybe involved. This is not a recall of these foods, just a be careful.

Foods imported to Canada with links to the Cyclospora parasite include:
  • basil cilantro raspberries blackberries mesclun lettuce
  • snow and snap peas pre-packaged salad mix

US- New Jersey, Florida, Texas - FDA sends warnings to import companies not in compliance with regulations

US - Florida - giant African snails invade Florida again

On June 23, 2022, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) confirmed the detection of the giant African land snail in the New Port Richey area of Pasco County. This detection was reported by a Pasco County Master Gardener.
According to the CDC, people also can get infected by eating raw produce such as lettuce that contains a small snail or slug or part of one. People have become infected from drinking rainwater collected from roofs and other untreated sources more at site on what to avoid and what to do if you find one. Florida is working on getting rid of them, but it seems to take years

US - weedkiller ingredient tied to cancer found in 80% of US urine samples - The Guardian UK

More than 80% of urine samples drawn from children and adults in a US health study contained a weedkilling chemical linked to cancer, a finding scientists have called “disturbing” and “concerning”.

The report by a unit of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that out of 2,310 urine samples, taken from a group of Americans intended to be representative of the US population, 1,885 were laced with detectable traces of glyphosate. This is the active ingredient in herbicides sold around the world, including the widely used Roundup brand. Almost a third of the participants were children ranging from six to 18.

US - FDA warning letters - undeclared ingredients which may interact with medications in a very serious manner. This is not for honey as a product but for honey based products.

Tuesday’s warning letters outline how companies violated federal law by selling active drug ingredients in products marketed as foods, like honey, and by making unauthorized claims that their products treat disease or improve health. These products are promoted and sold for sexual enhancement on various websites and online marketplaces, and possibly in some retail stores.

The warning letters were issued to:
