What wet cat food brand is affordable but of good quality to feed a small colony (4) of ferals. I know dry maybe easier, but I want them to have wet. Thanks for any thoughts.
I feed around 10 barn cats, some semi-feral, some 100% and here in FL it's hot and they don't drink enough water so I give them 9 lives canned Pate Favorites (Amazon, 12 cans for $8) or a 32-pack of Friskies whatever variety mix that's on sale. A few cats are very old and need some meat on their bones, while others just survive on occasional scraps from wherever or dry only. I find they eat all the wet and actually leave some of the dry.
Another affordable option is any of the Special Kitty Walmart brands. I know those are gross but the Mixed Grill flavor literally saved the life of a starving (like 2lbs) abused cat abandoned at the farm. It stunk so bad he was able to smell it despite having one nostril blocked and a mouth that didn't close properly so couldn't pick up kibble.
BTW, here's that emaciated, abused, and abandoned cat who was saved by Walmart Special Kitty Mixed Grill. I took him home after the hurricane in 2017. With this cataracts from malnutrition and bad mouth malocclusion he wasn't cut out for barn life. Some rest and good food and it turns out he's a gorgeous cat! He had no hair on him when he was rescued and it grew back reddish colored like a strange starvation layer of fine fur before it shed out and came in silver grey.
Apparently, he's a "Nebelung" (long-haired Russian Blue). He had hardly any hair, grew in weird orange hair when he was recovering, then shed that out and it all came in silver blue. Amazing. Someone had a beautiful cat and threw him away. He's happy and healthy now but still has trauma issues. He's a terror at the vet, hates being restrained in any way (like claw clipping or meds) and doesn't like to be touched in general. But if you take a nap, he'll snuggle up to you and stick his feet in your face LOL! Life is on his terms. He was given the name "Church" by the farm manager because he was acting crazy from starvation and neurological issues acting possessed like the cat in the Stephen King "Pet Sematary" movie. Now, his name officially is "Churchmouse Shadowchaser". He's quiet, likes cheese, and he chases shadows on the walls.
Just to toss another food in the mix — Mittens Morsels (know it’s at Pet Supplies Plus) canned, & Friskies — it’s often on sale at Walmart. And what a gorgeous kitty!!!!
