I live in Georgia so I am not in the direct path of Florence. However, many of our TCS friends are in danger. I know shelters do not usually accept animals and most people will not leave their animals. I just want them to know I am praying for the safety of all the people and animals. I hope other TCS friends who have faith are praying to whoever they pray to for the safety of those in danger. I do not mean to offend anyone, just to let my TCS friends who are in danger know I am thinking about them.
I was just coming here to see if we had a thread started for Hurricane Florence. I have 2 family members that live very close to where they are forecasting landfall. Or the center of the cone at least. My cousin was evacuating with her daughter and their dog today. Her DH has to stay because of his job. The other relative I'm not sure about. It looks like we could see some wind and rain here; but I'm not sure how much. We've had quite a bit lately as it is. (Just had a clap of thunder so sharp everyone jumped!) Yesterday I emptied my rain gauge and it was completely full. Everyone in the path of this storm is in my thoughts and prayers!
It's seems more shelters are allowing people to take their pets, which is good. I would NOT leave my cats behind! We are in the path of Florence, in the Raleigh area. We are looking at winds and flooding. I hope this one is not like Fran, which came through here at Category 1 strength and did a whole lot of damage. Prayers go out to all of the people and animals who are on the coast where this thing is going to make landfall.
We are in NC, the Winston-Salem area. Sending prayers to all our fellow North Carolinians for safekeeping!
I logged on just for Florence too. I am very concerned about all you TCSers in Florence's path, and especially @Mamanyt1953 . She lives in Havelock, NC, with Hekitty and is disabled. Haven't seen her on the site lately. I've heard that more shelters and hotels will allow refugees to bring their pets. It's horrible to think that our lives would be endangered because we refuse to stop caring for our beloved animals.
I agree. It is good that shelters are beginning to understand that folks won’t leave their beloved pets behind.
My prayers tonight are with everyone who is in the path of Florence. I understand it is expected to make landfall overnight or early morning. May you be safe.
I am concerned about her to. She is disabled and doesn't have a car. Worse came to worse Alice and I would just get in the car, drive somewhere safe and stay in the car. She can't even do that.
I "talked" with @Mamanyt1953 earlier today. She believes she will be ok through the storm. Her upstairs neighbor will take her and HK in if water rises. She would not go to a shelter because they would not allow HeKitty. She said her place has been safe during other storms. She is nervous, but is preparing for this.
If you "talk" with her again, please tell her we at TCS are thinking about her and wish her a very good "be safe."
@Mamanyt1953 is going to be safe. A TCS member will pick her up tomorrow. She will have a safe place on high ground to stay during the storm. In her words: "THANK GOD FOR TCS!"
In case anyone can share this on FB (I have to do a screenshot because I can't figure out how to do a link): Some counties are euthanizing all cats and dogs not pulled; not much choice in such a dire situation
~ It seems south Florida will escape most of the heavy wind this time . Lots of water headed that way ...
You're not far from my DD who is currently living with my inlaws. They are in Willow Spring. Stay safe.
I hope everybody in Florence's path stays safe. Bless the TCS person who will be taking @Mamanyt1953 and HeKitty!
Yes, I do bless the member who is driving down to pick up @Mamanyt1953 and Hekitty. He is an angel.. a real angel... especially since the person she thought would help her, fell through... I bless this kind soul... It seems like Mamany is smack dab in the direct hit area... Also, to all of our other members.. Thinking of you.. please let us know, as soon as possible, when you are safe... All of us will be so worried, until we know you are safe... (((hugs))) love, and prayers...
