The cats got fleas from the neighbours dog when she got in this summer. They were treated and I continued with the advantage.

I was wondering, do I still need to keep giving them advantage during the cold months? They are flea free, the house has been flea treated and cleaned.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

There's no place like home
Do you get hard freezes where you are in NC? When I lived in Texas, we had no freezes so I had to keep up treatment year round, but when I moved to Kansas City, I quit once the fleas die back in October. My personal preference is to get them off of treatment for a few months in the year as long as the fleas are gone.

You could try taking them off for a month and if the fleas come back, put them back on it!

Yeah we get hard freezes here in the mountains - we received snow last spring!
Right now, in the mornings, the temps are about between 30-45F. I will try and take them off for the month and see what happens.

Thanks!

When the weather remains under 42 degrees (F) on a constant basis, the fleas and ticks will be gone
