Planning on going on our first hike of the year and trying to decide what to do about flea and tick treatment. I used Revolution last year. I want the best for Oscar, but Revolution was a bit pricey. I would like to find something effective that won't break the bank.

Check with your vet to make sure whatever you go with is effective on the fleas in your area. I know Frontline doesn't work where I live but works wonderfully for others. I personally think flea medications is one of those areas where you get what you pay for.

I know you hate the thought of paying too much, but a reliable brand that is effective in your area is the best way to go. There are off-brand products that aren't as effective, and some are actually not healthy for cats.

You could also ask friends, family, neighbors what they have used, especially off-brand ones, to at least know whether they are effective and whether any of their cats had bad reactions to them.
